Chandel inManipurhas topped the list of aspirational districts which have recorded the most improved performance in June, followed bySahibganjin Jharkhand and Firozpur inPunjab.Chandel, which is situated in the eastern most part of the country and shares more than 100 kms of open, porous international border with Myanmar, recorded a sharp improvement from its 30th position in the February rankings to the top rank. All the five districts which have recorded the most improved performance in June have made remarkable progress from their February rankings with Firozpur jumping to third position from 107 previously andDhubrimoving to the fourth position from 103.Kiphirein Nagaland bagged the fifth spot, improving upon its February ranking of 35.

Chandel was successful in providing support to tribals under theVan Dhan Yojana. Trifed, a national level cooperative body has augmented the ability of the tribal Population to seek better prices for their minor forest produce.

The aspirational districts programme was launched by the Centre in 2018 to usher in development in 112 of the countrys most backward districts . Government think tankNiti Aayoganchors the programme in collaboration with the central and state governments.
The focus is on five critical sectors healthcare, Education, Agriculture-notes-for-state-psc-exams”>Agriculture and Resources“>Water Resources, and Skill development and basic Infrastructure. Assam government has extended the management ofWest Assam Cooperative Milk Union(WAMUL) by the Anand-headquarteredNational Dairy Development Board(NDDB) for a period of another five years.

WAMUL was on verge of closure when NDDB took over its management in 2008. Keeping in view the effect of NDDBs intervention in restoring and reviving the cooperative institution, the State Government of Assam has approved another extension of NDDBs management of WAMUL.
An agreement to this effect was signed on Friday after Meenesh Shah, interim chairman of NDDB met Assam chief minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma in Guwahati.

WAMUL presently procures an Average daily quantity of 41,000 kg of milk from 13,916 dairy farmers. Brand Purabi markets around 64,000 litres of milk per day.

The state received 75% deficit rainfall this month till Monday asmonsoonstayed subdued over the state for nine consecutive days.

The IMD further indicated that weak monsoon is likely to continue for another four-five days with no chances of major rainfall across the state. From a state starved of its own vegetable production,Keralafarmers are taking the first steps to becoming exporters of nadan (locally produced) vegetables. The Kochi-headquartered vegetable and fruits promotion councilKeralam(VFPCK) is channelizing export quality products toWest Asiaand London this Onam.

What started off as a small step with the export of nendran bananas during Vishu sent via ship to Europe has now led to more farmer clusters joining in for exporting their produce. With around 2.5 lakh horticulturists in the state associated with VFPCK, the agency has already been getting purchase orders for bananas and nadan vegetables.

Last year, thetourism departmenthad added many tourist spots to the list of go-to destinations in district, taking their number to 33. TheTelanganagovernment has requested theKrishna River Management Board(KRMB) to restrain Andhra Pradesh government from diverting water from foreshore ofSrisailamreservoir through three projects – Muchumarri, link canal connecting Handri Neeva Sujala Sravanthi lift irrigation scheme at Malyala with KC Canal, escape channel fromBanakacherlacross regulator for feeding theKC canalayacut – to feed KC canal unless a proper account and allocation is given to them.

The government said all the three projects were illegal.

Telangana Irrigation department engineer-in-chief C Muralidhar said in his letter to chairman of KRMB on Thursday said as AP has been utilizing more water to this project than allocated 31.90 tmcft and diverting to outside the basin will adversely impact many Telangana irrigation projects and Srisailam depending projects likeNagarjuna Sagarand drinking water supply to Hyderabad city.

Minister of state for electronics and information technology, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, said one village each from 13 districts in Andhra Pradesh are covered under the Digital Village Pilot project.

The project is being implemented throughCSCe-Governance Service India Limited. He was responding to a question byRajahmundryMP Margani Bharat Ram in Lok Sabha who sought to know whether 13 villages in Andhra Pradesh have been identified as digital villages and the details of Services that the identified villages would provide.

The minister said another 44 villages in Andhra Pradesh are being made digital by the CSC e-Governance Service India Limited through funds sourced fromCorporate Social Responsibility(CSR) under its own initiative.

Services that are provided include basic computer course, course in computer concept andTally Kaushal Praman Patra.

Chief minister Pramod Sawant on Tuesday said that Goa is the number one state in India with regards to infrastructure in theeducation sectorand human resource in the primary, secondary, higher secondary and higher education levels.

Dr Dulari Qureshi alleged that the indifference on part of the agencies of the state as well as the central government, was leading to loss of many historical masterpieces.
Nanded-based expertSuresh Jondhaleclaimed that the staff deployed by the state Archaeology Department at the monuments in Nanded was rarely spotted there.
“People in various villages of Marathwada are taking an initiative and spending from their pockets for conservation of ancient monuments. The government should look into these monuments and must focus on developing such points from tourism point of view,” he said.
