Punjab has topped the country by getting the highest grade A++ in 2019-20 in the field of school education as per the Performance Grading Index (PGI) of the States and UTs, released on Sunday by the Union Ministry of Education (MoE).

Punjab has not only scored maximum points for Governance and management, but has also shown improvement by at least 20 percent points.

The smart school policy, online teacher transfer policy, direct recruitment of administrator level posts through Ppsc, introduction of pre-primary classes, recruitment of teachers, online Education and distribution of free smartphones under Punjab Smart Connect scheme have become the base of the improvement in the level of education in the schools.

Uttarakhand sees significant jump in cyber crimes during pandemic

There has been a significant rise in cyber crime cases in the state since last year’s Covid-19 outbreak, according to data ofUttarakhandpolice’sSpecial Task Force(STF).

While there were around 1,800 complaints received and 200 FIRs registered in 2018, the complaints rose to over 3,600 with 261 FIRs in 2019. The cases increased exponentially in 2020 with 6,333 cyber fraud-related complaints received while 420 FIRs were registered.
Significantly, even theUnited Nationsreported a 350% rise in phishing websites during the pandemic.

Moreover, the latest cybersafe report of the Union Home ministry has placed Dehradun fifth in the country in terms of number of victims of such a crime. The report states at least 3,056 in Dehradun district fell prey to cyber crimes from August 1, 2019 to May 31, 2021.

Government hikes wages of mid day meal workes

The Government decided to hike the pay for mid-day meal kitchen assistants by Rs 500 per month. Jharkhand has 79,551 kitchen assistants who will now get Rs 2,000 per month. The Cabinet also approved Rs 39.79 crore for the revised payment. This is the second occasion when their pay was revised. In the previous Government a hike of Rs 500 was made.

Under the Central sponsored scheme, kitchen assistants get Rs 1,000 per month for 10 months a year. 60 per cent of the payment is given by the Central Government and the rest by the .

As perUnited Nations Environment Programme(UNEP), ecosystem restoration can take many forms, including growing trees, greening cities, changing diets and cleaning up rivers and coasts.

Bihar government has claimed that forest cover in the state is 15% at present and efforts are being made to raise it up to 17%.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that Madhya Pradesh is first in the country in preparing the rights records under the Swamitva Yojana being run to provide the villagers the ownership rights of their status by surveying the rural population in the State.

So far, rights records of 1615 villages of the State have been completed under the scheme. The rights records of 100% villages of Harda district have been completed. The Percentage of villages where rights records have been completed is 41.

Under the Best Practice by the Government of India, other States have also been suggested to adopt the process of implementation of Swamitva Yojana on the lines of Madhya Pradesh.

Under the Swamitva Yojana, the villagers will be given a governmental document of the right over their property in the form of an ownership card. Through this document, they will be able to buy and sell their property and get loans from banks easily.

In case of Horticulture crops, if the crop has been completely damaged and has been uprooted,the compensation will be Rs 1 lakh per hectare with a limit of two hectares, the chief minister said. If the horticulture crops are damaged but still standing, the compensation will be Rs 30,000 per hectare with a limit of two hectares.
For farmers whose summer crops sustained 33% or more damage, compensation will be Rs 20,000 per hectare with a limit of two hectares.

Enrolment ratio slightly up in Rajasthan, but still below national average

Rajasthanhas registered a little increase in the GrossEnrolment Ratio(GER) although it is still behind national Average of 27.1%. In the recently published All India Survey on Higher Education (AISHE) report, Rajasthan recorded an increase in the GER from 23% in 2018-19 to 23.9% in 2019-20. GER is a Percentage of Population in 18-23 age group enrolled in higher education.

In the last three years, has opened around 80 government colleges across Rajasthan for accessibility of higher education to students residing in rural areas. Government has also allotted major portion of the budget to education.
According to the report, female enrolment of 24.3% was slightly higher than male enrolment of 24.1% in 2019-20 session. This is higher than 2018-19 session when female enrolment was 23.1% while male enrolment was 23%.

Rajasthan is suffering from poor pupil-teacher ratio (PTR) with more than 50% faculty seats in higher education institutes lying vacant. Government opening colleges without filling vacancies has impacted the higher education.
The pupil-teacher ratio in Rajasthan has been one teacher on 29 pupils in regular and distant mode and 26 pupils in regular mode. In an ideal scenario, PTR should be one teacher on 20 pupils. This is above national average of 26 in regular and distant mode and 23 in regular mode.

The IITFC Programme is a digital initiative of the Ministry of Tourism (MoT) to encourage Indian citizens to participate in the thriving tourism .

It is an online programme where people can learn about tourism at their own pace, in their own time, space, and path.

After successfully completing this programme, the learner will be able to work as a Certified Tourist Facilitator for the Ministry of Tourism.

The DEFENCE Acquisition Council (DAC) has approved the issuance of a Request For Proposal (RFP) for the construction of six conventional submarines as part of Project P 75 (I) under the Strategic PARTNERSHIP (SP) Model.

The SP model of the Defence Procurement Procedure (DPP) aims to promote Indian Industry‘s role in manufacturing and to build a domestic defence industrial ecosystem.

This would be one of the most significant Make in India‘ projects.

The SP model will identify a few Indian private companies as Strategic Partners who will collaborate with a few shortlisted foreign Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to manufacture defence equipment.
