Mehtab Singh Gill Committee

The Punjab government established a high-level team to probe Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s security lapse on 6 January.

Highlights:

The Punjab government constituted the Mehtab Singh Gill Committee in response to the security lapse.

Mr. Gill has served as a judge in the past. Punjab’s Home Secretary is also a member of the committee. The committee has three days to provide a report.

The Security Breach is that Prime Minister arrived in Bathinda on 5 January 2022 and was scheduled to fly to Hussainwala to attend the National Martyrs Memorial.

Due to the rain, plane transportation could not be organized. As a result, the prime minister traveled to the memorial by car.

Protesters obstructed his convoy on the way there. He was also stuck in a flyover for 15 to 20 minutes.

The Prime Minister was at the monument to inaugurate development projects of Rs 43,000 crore.

This includes the building of roads and hospitals. He was also scheduled to speak to a group. The visit has been postponed.

Himachal to introduce State integrated drug prevention policy, says CM

Himachal Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Thursday said that the is contemplating to bring a state integrated drug prevention policy, in which a multi-pronged strategy and effective action plan will be formulated to deal with all forms of drug abuse.

The Chief Minister said this while launching a special drug prevention helpline under Mukhya Mantri Sewa Sankalp Helpline 1100. The objective of this helpline is to provide necessary guidance and counseling on drug abuse.

He said that this helpline would connect drug dependent persons or their parents with the nodal officers of Himachal Pradesh Nasha Nivaran Board and State Mental Health Authority in Shimla for initial counseling and guidance.

India, Nepal to ink pact for bridge over Mahkali river in Uttarakhand

In a major decision aimed to strengthen ties between India and Nepal, the , headed by Prime MinisterNarendra Modi, approved a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to be signed between the two countries for a bridge on the Mahakali river at Dharchula in Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand.

The work on the bridge is expected to be completed in three years. Public works department had sent a detailed project report to IIT-Delhi for Soil testing and hydrology analysis of the 110-m two-laned bridge between Charchhum in Dharchula and Dhap in Nepal.

UP bags five prestigious e-governance awards

In recognition of the achievements of Uttar Pradesh in digitalisation and e-Governance at the national level, the state has received five prestigious Awards in different areas of e-governanceOf these, two have been bagged by the Higher Education Department.

These awards will be conferred at a function in MNNIT, Prayagraj on January 23.

The prestigious CSI SIG E-governance awards are in recognition of the endeavours of Yogi Adityanath government in pursuit of transparent, efficient and people-friendly governance.

The UP-Darpan Dashboard for the chief minister has been selected for the Award of Excellence. It is the portal to facilitate quick and efficient redressal of citizens complaints. It is being widely used by people and has provided relief to thousands of complainants.

The Higher Education Department has got the CSI SIG eGovernance Award 2021 in recognition of its commendable works in two endeavors – Digital Library Project and Online NOC and Affiliations System for opening the new college/course.

The headed by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had launched the Digital Library in pursuit of promoting digital education. On this, as many as 76,709 e-contents have so far been uploaded. The Digital Library has registered more than 7.07 lakh hits. According to the department, about 5,500 contents are under scrutiny/approval process at the moment.

Jharkhand urges Centre to facilitate faster delivery of genome sequencing report

Faced with delay in procuringgenome sequencingreports owing to the absence of necessary equipment, the Jharkhand government has urged the Centre to link its sample collection centres and diagnostic laboratories with medical institutes that provide quick results.

The Union Health ministry said Jharkhand was emerging as a state of concern along with Maharashtra, West Bengal, Delhi, Kerala, Nadu, Karnataka and Gujarat.

Bihars second tiger reserve in Kaimur soon: Union minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey

He said a proposal in this regard was being finalised and deliberations on it were held at the meeting of the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA).

The state forest department had first spotted a tiger through camera traps in Kaimur wildlife sanctuary on March 26, 2020.

Till now, tiger spotting in Bihar has been confined to either VTR in West Champaran or Patna zoo. VTR, the lone tiger reserve in Bihar, has a good number of 31 tigers as per the last tiger census.

New National Livestock Mission Scheme

The Cabinet decided to implement the new National Mission scheme of the Government of India in the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying in the state.

The objective of the scheme is mainly cattle breed development, EMPLOYMENT generation, increasing the productivity of animals, bringing research to the field level and Entrepreneurship development. Including the above activities in the National Livestock Mission, three sub-missions have been formed.

The first is the Sub-Mission on Breed Development of Livestock and Poultry, the second is the Chari-Chara (Fodder) Development Sub-Mission and the third is the Innovation and Extension Sub-Mission. With the implementation of National Livestock Mission, the breed of animals in the state will improve. The productivity of animals will increase. New technology will be developed and reach at the the grassroots level. This will increase the income of livestock farmers.

Rajasthan govt drags feet on declaring Kumbhalgarh a tiger reserve

Member of the(NTCA) andRajsamandMP DiyaKumaricriticised the State Government for dragging its feet to declareKumbhalgarhandTodgarh Wildlifesanctuary as atiger reserve.

During NTCA meeting in New Delhi, which was chaired by Union minister of Environment, forest and Climate-change”>Climate Change Bhupendra Yadav, Kumari highlighted that no action has been taken by theRajasthangovernment in this regard.

In the draft report submitted by the committee suggested to declaring a 2,053 square kilometre area for tiger reserve after fulfilling certain conditions. The reserve will be spread across four districts such as Udaipur, Pali, Rajsamand and Sirohi.

PMFME Scheme Recent Initiatives

The Ministry of Food Processing Industries recently launched six one district one product (ODOP) brands under the PMFME Scheme. PMFME is Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises.
