Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Monday announced to name the mini sports stadium built by Karnal Smart City Limited after The Flying Sikh -Milkha Singh.

Khattar also announced that a statue of Milkha Singh would be installed at the Gate of the Sports ground. The playground is constructed in about four acres at Gappu Wala Bagh site in ward 16 in Karnal.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister also announced plans to build a community centre and library on the first floor on about two and a half acres of land adjoining it and said that a shed would be built at one corner of the sports ground, in which yoga classes would be held.

Apart from this, an astroturf field for hockey would be built at a cost of about Rs.8 crore, Khattar said.

On this occasion the Chief Minister inaugurated four projects, including mini sports stadium, beautification of Atal Park, strengthening of various roads and construction work on footpaths, constructed at a cost of about Rs 8.22 crore in Karnal.

To provide relief to the farmers and laborers of the cotton belt, the Punjab Government has announced to release the grant of over Rs. 416 crore to compensate for the damage of crops due to pink ballworm attack.

The announcement was made by Revenue and Rehabilitation Minister Aruna Chaudhary and Agriculture-notes-for-state-psc-exams”>Agriculture Minister Randeep Singh Nabha in a joint press conference here at Punjab Bhawan. Both the Cabinet Ministers said that the pink ballworm had caused severe damage to crops in Mansa, Sangrur, Bathinda, Sri Muktsar Sahib and Barnala districts and to compensate these farmers their government is releasing this amount of Rs 416 crore. They said that 10 percent of the amount would be provided to the cotton picking workers as relief and the compensation amount will be sent in the accounts of Deputy Commissioners before Diwali and the District Administration will directly transfer the aid in the bank accounts of farmers.

The two ministers said that the Punjab Government is standing firmly with the farmers and every step would be taken for their welfare.

Giving details of the distribution of compensation, the Ministers said that this time around 7 lakh 51 thousand acres of cotton was sown in the cotton belt and out of this around four lakh acres had been damaged by the pink ballworm. Compensation was being paid at the rate of Rs. 2,000 per acre for 26 to 32 percent loss, Rs. 5400 per acre for 33 to 75 percent loss and Rs.12,000 per acre for 76 to 100 percent loss which is the highest ever amount. Earlier, farmers were being paid Rs 8,000 per acre and pickers 5 percent of the amount for crop failure.

According to the Cabinet Ministers, 151335 acre crop in Mansa district has been damaged from 76 to 100 percent an amount of Rs.181,60,21,050 is being released for this district. Similarly, in Sangrur 145 acres suffered loss from 26 to 32 per cent, 3693 acres 33 to 75 per cent and 180 acres 76 to 100 per cent loss and provision of Rs. 224,01,328 has been made for this. He said that in Bathinda district, 683 acres have suffered loss from 26 to 32 percent, 85 acres 33 to 75 percent and 188308 acres 76 to 100 percent loss for which compensation of Rs. 226,15,23,700 is being paid for Bathinda. In Sri Muktsar Sahib district, 1906 acres crop have been damaged by 26 to 32 per cent, 7922 acres by 33 to 75 per cent and 50 acres by 76 to 100 per cent for which an amount of Rs. 4,71,90,800 is being released.

Shoolini University retains number 1 ranking

The Shoolini University of Biotechnology and Management Sciences has retained its number one position in the country for citation impact in the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), worlds higher institution ranking agency for Asia, released today.

The 12-year old university has also improved its overall Asia ranking from 291-300 last year to 271-280 slot this year. Among over 9,000 universities in the country, Shoolini University was ranked 38th last year, and it has improved its position to 35 this year. Among all private universities in the country, the university has been ranked eighth in the country.

The rankings are done on the basis of a wide criteria, including academic reputation, staff-student ratio, papers per faculty, citation impact, international research Network, international staff and exchange students.

A satellite centre of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh will be established in Udham Singh Nagar district on land provided by the state government.

This satellite centre of Aiims Rishikesh will provide all necessary medical treatment facilities for patients of the Kumaon region. A letter to this effect from the government of India economic adviser Nilambuj Sharan has been received by the AIIMS Rishikesh director.

Reacting to this development, chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami thanked the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Union Health minister Mansukh Mandaviya. Dhami has been requesting the central government to facilitate establishment of AIIMS in the Kumaon region on the lines of AIIMS Rishikesh.

Dhami said that the establishment of this centre, the patients of Kumaon region and those from neighbouring districts of Uttar Pradesh will benefit considerably from better medical treatment facilities.

It is pertinent to mention here that in his letter, Sharan has stated that like AIIMS Bhubaneswar has opened its satellite centre at Balasore in Odisha, necessary arrangements should be made for AIIMS Rishikesh to operate its satellite centre in Udham Singh Nagar district of Uttarakhand.

With this letter being received from the central government, a technical team of the Health minister will soon evaluate the utility of the land provided by the and the capacity of the AIIMS satellite centre. Headed by the AIIMS director, the engineer concerned and chief architect will visit the land in question and check its utility.

Uttar Pradesh: PM Narendra Modi to launch Purvanchal Expressway on November 16

Prime MinisterNarendra Modiis likely to inaugurate the 341km-longPurvanchal Expressway, between Lucknow and Ghazipur, on November 16.

This is one of the several projects in the state lined up to be inaugurated by the PM, who is expected to set the political temperatures of poll-bound UP soaring by making frequent visits to inaugurate or lay the foundation stone of mega projects in November and December.

According to UP government, the PM is scheduled to dedicate the Purvanchal Expressway from Sultanpur on November 16. Constructed at an estimate cost of Rs 42,000 crore, the expressway is being touted as a Catalyst to boost development in socio-economically impoverished east UP. The foundation stone of Purvanchal Expressway was laid by Modi in Azamgarh in July 2018.

In a move to provide employment to the youths of the State, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) ISM Dhanbad is preparing a new platform for lac farmers. Such blockchain technology is being developed where farmers and industry will come together on one platform.

Jharkhand is the largest producer of lac in the country. Jharkhand has a contribution of about 8293 tonnes about 54.6 percent in the production of about 16,352 tonnes of lac in India. Jharkhand’s Ranchi, Simdega, Khunti and Gumla are the largest lac producing districts across the Country.

Patnas air quality turns poor, might deteriorate

The citys air quality index (AQI), which turned poor on Wednesday, is likely to deteriorate further with calm winds, low temperature and anthropogenic activities leading to accumulation of pollutants.

According to the Central Pollution Control Boards (CPCB) daily bulletin, Patnas overall AQI was recorded at 235 at 4pm on Wednesday, a sharp spike from 203 a day before. It was the Average of the AQI measured by five continuous ambient air quality monitoring stations at BIT-Patna (277), Eco Park (273), S K Memorial Hall (199), DRM Office-Khagaul (200), andPatnaCity (228).

An AQI between 0 and 50 is considered good, 51 and 100 satisfactory, 101 and 200 moderate, 201 and 300 poor, 301 and 400 very poor, and 401 and 500 severe. A poor AQI essentially means that people may suffer from breathing problems on prolonged exposure to the air.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel launched the online dashboard of Chief Minister Slum Health Scheme (CMSHS) and a gift pack of the traditional cuisine Joran gift pack on the occasion of State Foundation Day.

The event was held at the official residence of the Chief Minister here.

With the launch of the dashboard, people will be able to take advance appointments for free treatment. They can also track the arrival of mobile medical unit vehicles in their area.

The medical prescription and test report of the patients will be available online.

The scheme was launched on November 1, 2020. The aim was to provide free and better Health facilities to people in slums. The facility is extended through 60 mobile medical units in 14 municipal areas.

The gift pack of Chhattisgarhs traditional cuisine delicacies includes Barja ki Barfi’, Darbha Coffee, Ragi Cookies, Bajra and Bastar Cashew Cookies, Millet Peda, ‘Papchi’, ‘Typhari’ and more.

Madhya Pradesh govt yet to set up a single fast track court

Madhya Pradeshgovernment is yet to set up even asingle fast track court, shows a Union Law and ministry reply in the last monsoon session in Lok Sabha.

The reply also showed that the state along with Rajasthan are the only two big states with zero fast track court (FTC). This is when, there are 133 proposed FTC in MP and 93 ones in Rajasthan.

FTCs are for fast tracking the disposal of cases of heinous crimes; civil cases involving senior citizens, Women, children, disabled and litigants affected with HIV-AIDS and other terminal ailments.

FTC’s also disposes civil disputes involving land acquisitions and property/rent disputes pending for more than five years. These courts are set up during 11th financial commission.

The 14th Finance Commission had recommended that the number of FTCs to be established should be 10% of the sanctioned strength of Judicial Officers of the State, showed reply.
MP that has a sanctioned strength of 2021 for judicial officers need around 200 FTC in accordance with finance commission recommendation.

The commission had further recommended the setting up of 1800 FTCs during 2015-2020. But there are 956 functional FTCs in the country.
