Canada will cooperate with Haryana in field of food and energy security

The Canadian province of Saskatchewan has offered to enhance cooperation with Haryana in the field of food and Energy Security. Under this, a six-member Canadian delegation led by Premier Scott Moe met Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and discussed issues of mutual cooperation in various fields.

The delegation also included former Prime Minister of Canada, Stephen Harper.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister apprised the delegation of the geographical conditions of Haryana. He expressed hope that the visit of the delegation to Haryana would be a good experience. Haryana is an agrarian state and ranks first in India in per capita income and GST collection. More than 400 Fortune companies of the world are doing business in Gurugram. Haryana ranks second in India after Bengaluru in IT and Software, he said.

Khattar also shared the experience of his visit to Canada in 2016 with the delegation and said that skilled and unskilled manpower is available in Haryana and cooperation can also be increased in logistic .

Punjab to take peoples suggestions before implementing New Sports Policy

Punjab Government has decided to take the suggestions of the people before implementing the comprehensive new Sports policy being prepared by the Sports Department, after which this policy will be implemented very soon.

A draft of the sports policy has been prepared and it has been decided to seek public opinion to get the feedback of people associated with sports and sportspersons before sending it for approval. After this, an effective sports policy will be prepared by incorporating people’s suggestions, which will take Punjab forward in the field of sports, said the states Sports Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer on Friday, after holding a marathon meeting with the committee of experts formed to draft the sports policy.

Hayer directed the Department to complete the draft of the sports policy after soliciting public opinion so that it can be implemented at the beginning of the new session.

Himachal Pradesh budget levies Rs 10 cow cess on each bottle of liquor

Himachal CMSukhvinder Singh Sukhupresented theCongressgovernments maidenbudget, headlining it with a cow cess on liquor and a raft of welfare measures.

Presenting the Rs 53,413-crore budget for 2023-24 in the assembly,Sukhustarted his 135-minute speech with a shloka (verse) from theGitaand announced the cow cess of Rs 10 on the sale of each bottle of liquor, which will add up to an additional revenue of Rs 100 crore per annum. The CM also rolled out a pension plan, under which, Women in the state will get Rs 1,500 per month, at a cost of Rs 416 crore per year.

Other highlights of the budget included sops for electric vehicles as part of a larger drive to make HP a green state by 2026. The CM also announced that the Himachal Pradesh Ceiling on Land Holding Act, 1972, will be amended and daughters will be considered a separate unit.

The Rural Development and Migration Prevention Commission ofUttarakhandhas handed over its interim report for 2018-2022 to the state government. While the commission claims a fall in permanent migration, data presented in the report reflects an overall rise in people moving out in the last five years.

From 2018 to 2022, a total of 3.3 lakh people migrated from different parts of the state, especially the hills, the report says. Out of these, 3 lakh from 6,436 villages of 92 blocks opted for temporary Migration, which means they didn’t leave their homes in the villages permanently, while in this period, 28,631 people of 2,067 villages in 72 blocks moved out permanently.

Till 2011, Uttarakhand had 1,034 uninhabited villages and the number rose by 734 from 2011 to 2018.

Earlier, from 2008 to 2018, a total of 5.02 lakh had migrated from the state’s villages. Of these, 3.8 lakh who migrated from 6,338 villages kept visiting their place periodically, whereas 1.1 lakh have permanently shifted out.

‘All parts of UP drawing investments uniformly’

PWD ministerJitin Prasada said that under Chief MinisterYogi Adityanath’s guidance, all parts of the state, and not just Lucknow and Noida, are attracting investments.

Speaking on last day of the three-day Interior Design Confluence andShowcaseby Indian Institute of Interior Design, Prasad said that all the existing and next generation architects were supporting the initiative of developing green buildings started by Prime MinisterNarendra Modi.
He also suggested that everyone should support local artisans at the state and national levels which would eventually help them save the transportation cost. “Our aim aim is to seeUttar Pradeshas one of the most developed states in the next five years,” he said.

3rd supplementary budget in tune of Rs 4546.27 Cr passed

This year’s third supplementary budget or demand for grants of Rs 4546.27 crores has been passed by the State Assembly on Thursday. The opposition opposed the demand for grants while the ruling parties supported it.

The cut motion of the opposition was rejected. The supplementary budget was passed on the basis of majority. The State Finance Minister, Dr Rameshwar Oraon called it necessary. He said that 68.73 per cent of the budget allocations has been spent so far this year.

Agriculture-notes-for-state-psc-exams”>Agriculture Minister Badal said that the FPO scheme by is implemented in Jharkhand. Under this scheme, small and marginal farmers are integrated and registered in the Company or Co-operative Act. So that they purchase inputs in an organized manner and make them available to the farmers and get the right price by taking the agricultural produce to the market through e-Nam and other means, he added. He said that from the year 2020-21, 68 FPOs have been formed by NABARD in the Central Sector Scheme of 10000 FPOs of the Government of India in the state. FPO has been formed through many other agencies whose number is 257.

1.82 crore people in Bihar discarded liquor consumption, says CM Nitish Kumar

Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar saida recent survey conducted by the Patna-based Chanakya National Law University (CNLU)revealed that around 1.82 crore people have discarded consuming alcohol in the state since the enforcement oftotal prohibitionin April 2016.

The Bihar CM also said that the had been receiving a revenue of Rs 5,000 crore per annum from the trade of alcohol, but people of the state had been spending around Rs 10,000 crore per annum on consumption of liquor.

Now, after the enforcement of the ban on consumption of liquor, people are spending that Money on other necessary requirements. Thus, the sale of vegetables, fruits, milk etc has increased manifold. The loving standard of people has improved, Nitish said.
The CM also said that his government had been continuously running different kinds of campaigns to make people aware about the benefits of Prohibition.

Under the “Mukhyamantri Vriksh Sampada Yojana” in Chhattisgarh, 15 crore trees will be planted over 1.80 lakh acres in the next five years.

An official communiqu quoted Chief Conservator of Forest and Chief of Forest Force Sanjay Shukla as saying on Thursday that more than 16,000 beneficiaries had been registered by the Forest Department for tree plantation.

The scheme has been launched to increase the income of farmers with commercial tree plantation in their lands with their Consent, it said.

Under the scheme, farmers, willing land owners, government, semi-government and autonomous institutions of the government, private educational institutions, private trusts, Panchayats and land contract holders can benefit.

Full financial assistance will be granted under the scheme for up to five acres of tree plantation whereas 50 percent financial assistance will be granted for more than 5 acres of plantation.

For the purchase of marked species of trees, the minimum sale price has been decided. In five years, after the planted trees are mature, they might be worth Rs. 10,000 crores, the communiqu said. This year, 12 species of trees will be planted on 30,000 acres. These species include clonal eucalyptus, root shoot teak, Tissue Culture, sandalwood, Amla, Sheesham and Mahaneem.

3 protected monuments continue to be under unauthorised possession: CAG

Comptroller & Auditor General (CAG) in its report tabled in the state assembly for the year 2020-21 said that in the inspection carried out with the official of directorate of archaeology of the state, it found that unauthorised possession of people on seven of the heritage buildings continues to be there years after they were notified as protected monuments. They include three heritage buildings of Bhopal Sadar Manzil,Moti Mahaland Baradari (Chhatri) in Bhopal.

The report further said that those having unauthorised possession over these buildings include District Administration, local bodies, private companies and individuals. Such heritage buildings are not under the control of the directorate of archaeology even after being declared as protected monuments, said the report.

The report pointed out that section 3 of theMadhya Pradesh AMASR Act, 1964, provides that the may issue a public notice on its intention to declare a building or archaeological place or remnant a protected site two months before its actually done, anyone can lodge an objection over governments notification within 1 month after its published and after two months, the state government may declare the site a protected site after considering objections received over the proposal.

4.35L more farmers in five years

The government said that the number of farmers in Gujarat as per the agri census of 2015-16, was 53.20 lakh, which is 4.35 lakh higher than the number of farmers according to the 2010-11 agri census. According to data provided by the Agriculture-notes-for-state-psc-exams”>Agriculture minister in a written reply to a question byCongress MLAShailesh Parmar, there has been a rise in the number of marginal, small and semi-medium farmers in the state between 2010-11 and 2015-16. The number of medium farmers and big farmers has fallen during the same period. According to the 2015-16 agri census, there were 20.18 lakh marginal farmers, 16.15 lakh small farmers, 11.50 lakh semi-medium farmers, 4.95 medium farmers and 39,888 big farmers in the state. Compared to the 2010-11 agri census, the number of marginal farmers increased by 2.03 lakh, small farmers increased by 1.86 lakh, and semi-medium farmers increased by 70,721. The number of medium farmers decreased by 16,782, while the number of big farmers fell by 8,883.
