Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein said that the State Government has almost finalized the process of transferring 14 major hydropower projects in the state from private developers to various Central Public Sector Undertakings (CPSUs) and the signing of agreements with the latter is due next month.


It may be mentioned that the Arunachal government has terminated 44 agreements (MoAs) with various private power developers for their failure to execute the projects allotted to them and instead offered those to the CPSUs for development based on their performance and reliability, Mein had informed the Assembly on March 16, 2022.

He said that the had, in accordance to the Centres Hydro Power Policy, signed 153 MoAs with various CPSUs and Independent Power Producers (IPPs) for development of hydropower projects with the total installed capacity of 46,943 MW.

New Arunodoi schemes will be provided to 35 lakh families, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said during his visit to Tangla.

A huge rally took place at Tangla High School where he spoke about various schemes to be provided to the people.

While addressing the gathering CM Sarma mentioned that currently 20 lakh families are availing benefits through the Arunodoi scheme and that the amount will be increased to Rs.1400. Apart from Arunodoi scheme ration cards will be given to 60 lakh new beneficiaries.

“From now on those with ration cards will get free treatment of Rs 5 lakh per annum in the hospital,” CM stated.

Furthermore, each of the SHGs members will receive Rs 1000 for training to start their own business. Then each will be given Rs 10,000 each in a private bank account.

Moreover, a total of Rs 3000 crore will be given to Women of SHGs. Loans for microfinance will also be repaid.

Tamil Nadu Ethanol policy hits sweet spot

The primary goal of the Tamil Nadu Ethanol Blending Policy 2023 is to attract investments worth 5,000 crore for molasses/grain-based ethanol production and make the state self-sufficient in meeting the estimated annual requirement of 130 crore litres.
The byproducts of this effort will be better income for farmers as demand for feedstock grows and a revival of the states sugar Industry as utilization of existing mills increases.
Worldwide, the future of the sugar industry lies in ethanol. In Brazil, the worlds largest sugar producer, only 40-45% of its sugarcane goes into sugar production. Half the crop is directly used for ethanol production. After almost 20 years of talks and 5-6 years of real push, India has achieved 10% ethanol blend and is set to take it up to 20% by 2025.

Awareness of diabetes impact on vital organs poor in Kerala

InKerala, the diabetes capital of India, less than a fourth of those at high risk of developing diabetes knew about its effects on vital organs.
While less than 20% of those studied knew that diabetes can affect the heart, only 10% knew that it can infect the feet and 3% knew that it can affect the nerves, according to a recent study.

The study was conducted to understand the awareness among individuals with a high risk of developing type 2 diabetes inThiruvananthapuramdistrict.

The study results are important for Kerala and the rest of India as the state is in the most advanced stage of epidemiological transition and is supposedly the harbinger for other Indian states in relation to the burden of diabetes and other non-communicable diseases.

TheIJR, which was released recently, said except for Delhi and Chandigarh, no state or Union territory spends more than one per cent of its total annual expenditure onjudiciarywhere the vacancy of judges in high courts stands at 30 per cent.
The IJR, an initiative of theTata Trustslaunched in 2019, said as of December 2022, the country had 19 judges for every 10 lakh people and a backlog of 4.8 crore cases. The Law Commission had suggested, as early as in 1987, that there should be 50 judges for every 10 lakh people in a decade’s time.

The statistics were shared in IJR which ranked states and UTs on various parameters like vacancies in judiciary, budgetary allocations, Infrastructure, human Resources, legal aid, condition of prisons, functioning of Police and state Human Rights commissions.

More procedures on Telangana Aarogyasri list soon

TheTelangana Aarogyasri Health Care Trustis reviewing the coverage of medical and surgical procedures and is going to add 539 new procedures to its list soon.

Experts from Gandhi Hospital, Osmania General Hospital and the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences are currently working on developing a standard protocol for these essential procedures, including organ transplants.

Also revision of packages (for existing procedures) under the Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) Aarogyasri scheme is being worked out, as the previous revision of rates was last done in 2013. Due to the outdated rates, a majority of the private and corporate hospitals have shown very little interest in treating patients under the scheme.

AP seeks KRMB nod for water from Sagar

The has requested Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) to allow it to utilize 13tmcft water forSagarright canal ayacut and drinking water needs.

The state has objected to KRMB asking it to stop using water fromNagarjuna Sagardam. The state said about 193 tmc ft water was left unutilized from APs quota whileTelanganahad utilized in excess of its quota.

The state also demanded KRMB to account for total utilization of water by both states. The state demanded KRMB to convene a full-board meeting to discuss water consumption by both states.

Goa govt puts digital queue system for watersports on hold

Watersports operators, who have been opposing Goa Electronic Ltds (GEL) proposed manned digital queue system for the past several months, got a reprieve on Monday after the government agreed to temporarily put the plan on hold.

The government has decided to allow operators to continue with their existing manual queue system for the remainder of the tourist season.

The solution was arrived at after chief ministerPramod Sawantheld a lengthy discussion with coastal MLAs and watersports operators along with tourism ministerRohan Khaunte.

A few months ago, the tourism department announced the introduction of a GEL-operated digital queue system for watersports activities as per the directive.

Soon, Mumbai will get 50 24×7 food trucks in 7 zones

Round-the-clockfood trucksserving any kind of cooked food have been allowed in the city as the BMC on Monday asked its central purchase department to float tenders inviting bids.

Finalising the food truck policy that has been lying on the backburner since 2021, the civic body capped the number of trucks to 50. Seven trucks can operate in six of the civic body’s seven zones, and one will have eight.

The food trucks would be allowed 24×7 with requisite permissions from the ward concerned and other departments, namely Health and the fire brigade.
