Northeast oil output to rise by 67% in 4 years: Hardeep Puri

Union petroleum minister Hardeep SinghPurisaid the petroleum sector will play a crucial role in the regions industrial Growth. He said oil production from the northeast is expected to increase by 67% from 4.11 MMT in 2020-21 to 6.85 MMT in the next four years.

Puri was speaking at the North-East Zonal Conference forPM GatiShakti(PMGS), organised by the ministry of petroleum and natural gas here on Monday. Puri added that the area under exploration in the region is going to double in the near future, with crude production expected to go up by 45% in four years and gas production by about 90% in the same period. He urged all the leaders to lend their support to this transformative mission by way of necessary project clearances and the cooperation of state agencies.

The government has announced the Act East Policy in 2014, the upgrade of the Look East Policy. The Barak Valley region is the gateway to a number of south-Asian countries. However, the government is yet to make its programme clear about how the geographical and Communication advantage of this region will be used to implement the Act East Policy.

Cybercrimes increase by 5.5% in Odisha in 2021

Cyber criminals cheated several people of about Rs 2 crore in the state last year when the Police registered 2,037 such cases. It was a marginal increase (5.5%) from 2020 when 1931 cybercrimes were recorded.

In the bulk of the cases, unidentified cyber crooks took away from the victims by offering them high returns through different schemes, on purchases of pharmaceutical products, during online trading, installation of mobile towers and while sending gift parcels from abroad. In some cases, people lost money from their accounts after clicking on malicious links sent by the scammers to their phones and emails.

Not only is the rise in cybercrimes a cause of concern in this increasingly digital age, but also slow investigation and poor conviction, which have raised questions on the efficacy of cops in solving such cases. Going by theNational Crime Records Bureau, not a single case has resulted in conviction in the state between 2018 and 2020.

New storage facility proposed near Sadayankuppam

The prospects of creating a freshwater body at the confluence point of Kosasthalaiyar river and Red Hills surplus course near Sadayankuppam is under scrutiny.

This was one of the improvements discussed during the ongoing field visits of members of the advisory committee on mitigation and management of flood risk in Chennai metro.

Forming of a freshwater body in the about 1,000 acre of space available at the confluence point near Sadayankuppam would help conserve flood water draining into sea and also prevent seawater intrusion. The width of the surplus course and the river is more than 100 metre at the confluence point.

The team that visited the site discussed steps to mitigate floods and protect Resources“>Water Resources with the officials of government agencies, including the Water Resources Department.

Need development plan of 25 years for Kerala: Kodiyeri Balakrishnan

CPM state secretaryKodiyeri Balakrishnansaid that the party conference will be discussing an outline for the development of the state. Factors which can contribute to the making ofNava Keralamwill be the key component of the outline,Kodiyerisaid, while speaking to the media in Kochi on Sunday.

In 1956 also, the state conference had discussed such a report on the states development agenda, said Balakrishnan. It is for the first time that the CPM-led front gets SUCCESSION in the government. This reflects the hope people have placed on the party and LDF. Despite all these factors, the partys mass base will have to be further increased, said Balakrishnan.

Karnataka lags behind Tamil Nadu and Kerala in tackling hunger

India has set herself the target of eradicating hunger and Malnutrition by 2030, in addition to increasing use of clean and affordable energy. All the states have been tasked with working towards the realisation of these objectives, referred to collectively as Goals (SDGs).

A survey conducted by the Centre for Science and Environment, which released the Annual State of Indias Environment 2022 report, has found that, whileKarnatakais faring well in pushing clean and affordable energy initiatives, it is lagging considerably behind its neighboursTamil NaduandKeralain tackling hunger and malnutrition.

Karnataka brings up the rear of the table that lists states against the zero hunger indicator, assessing steps taken to end hunger. Against 100, Karnataka scored a mere 53 out of 100. Among other categories, the indicator looks at efforts taken to feed all sections of the Population, particularly the children, besides looking into efforts made to promote Agriculture-notes-for-state-psc-exams”>Agriculture, support extended to small-scale farmers, access to land.

Karnataka has slotted in 10th when it comes to its performance in steps taken towards eradication of POVERTY, with a score of 68, standing sixth in its ability to offer quality Education and gender Equality. Although the state comes in 11th when it comes to supplying clean water and sanitation, it has scored an impressive 85 out of 100 on that count.

Karnataka has come in 12th in the category that ranks states on steps taken to reduce socio-economic inequality. The state has achieved the same rank in the life on the land category, wherein initiatives undertaken to promote more sustainable techniques aimed at the use of terrestrial ecosystem, preservation of forests, halting and reversing land degradation, among others.

e-health profile project rolled out in Mulugu and Rajanna Sircilla

In a digital initiative aimed at scaling up access to public healthcare Services, the rolled out Telangana digital Health profile project in the tribal majority Mulugu district and also in Rajanna Sircilla district on a pilot basis on Saturday.

Health Minister T Harish Rao formally launched the e health profile project in the district headquarters town of Mulugu.

The landmark initiative will help create a comprehensive digital Database of citizens health profile, assess the health care needs of people, ensure timely diagnosis and treatment services thereby improving access to better public healthcare services.

INS Visakapatnam Dedicated To Vizag

India’s INS Visakhapatnam was formally dedicated to the town itself.

The destroyer was given away by Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Jagan Mohan Reddy during a formal ceremony at the Naval Dockyard.

It has been designed, developed, and built-in India and named after the town of Destiny – Visakhapatnam.

It is on its first visit to the town of Destiny for Ex MILAN-22 and Presidential Fleet Review.

Goa govt notifies policy to handle low-grade iron ore

The has notified theMiningDumpPolicythus permitting handling of low-grade ironOregenerated between November 23, 2007, and September 11, 2012.
The government had granted approval to the new policy in December 2021, just before the Code Of Conduct came into force, in a bid to restart mining activities.

The mineral rejects, sub grade ore or by-product, which were generated during the course of mining from November 23, 2007, to September 11, 2012, shall be disposed off as may be determined by the state government, including auctioning as per existing e-auction policy of the state government.

The policy allows handling of mining dumps outside and inside leases through auctioning by the state government and allows lessees to handle the dumps.

PM Modi unveils Shivaji Maharaj statue, launches Metro rail project in Pune

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday unveiled a statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in the premises of the Pune .
