Tripura to set up transgender welfare boar

The Tripura government is thinking of constituting a welfare board for transgender persons residing in the state, said social welfare minister Tinku Roy.

He has held a meeting with a group of lesbians, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, or questioning persons or the community (LGBTQ) on their rights and social security recently to address some crucial issues.
A 24-point charter of demands was raised in the meeting asking to formulate a strategy and policy to protect the rights of LGBTQ people. The community members demanded the government undertake steps for eradicating the social stigma associated with LGBTQ and constitute a board for them, the minister said. “We have tried to make them aware of the composition of such boards like other states. Normally, such boards are headed by transgender poeple and the policies are implemented by trans persons. We are not yet aware of the government’s decision but the minister made it clear that the government is keen to resolve our problems,” said LGBTQ activist Sneha Gupta Roy.

MMSPY to be implemented in State soon

Tamil Nadu’s Namakkal district ranks 2nd in country in water conservation

Nadu’sNamakkaldistrict has been ranked second in the conservation and management of Resources“>Water Resources in the country for the year 2022.

District collector Shreya P Singh said they had implemented measures to conserve and manage water resources in the five municipalities, 19 town panchayats and 322 village panchayats in the district last year.

Desilting, check dam constructions and pipeline formations were carried out at 1,713 small, medium and big water bodies in the district.

Draft bill moots fast-track courts, seven-year jail, prohibitive fines

The draft amendment to the Kerala Healthcare Service Persons and Healthcare Service Institutions (Prevention of Viole-nce and Damage to Property) Act, 2012 has proposed increasing the quantum of punishment for attack on healthcare workers and institutions to seven years’ imprisonment and fine up to Rs 1 lakh.

The amendment, prepared by a committee comprising additional chief secretary (Home), principal secretary (Health) and principal secretary (law) in consultation with the chief secretary, has been circulated to the chief minister, health and law ministers for vetting.

CM to initiate grant of dotted lands to farmers across 2.06 lakh acres

Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy will launch a programme to grant full rights on 2.06 lakh acres of dotted lands to 97,471 families in Kavali of Sri Potti Sriramulu Nellore district, putting an end to the decades-old problem of farmers.

The value of the 2,06,171 acres in question has been estimated at Rs 20,000 crore.

The issue dated to the British era, when land surveys categorised lands as government land, private land or dotted lands. While farmers have been cultivating these lands for decades, they did not have full rights over the same. Although the lands were in the possession of farmers for years, it was not of much use to them as they could not sell, get loans, mortgage, bequeath as inheritance or give it as a gift.

officials said this will add to the list of reforms brought about by the Jagan Mohan Reddy government, which has removed 35,000 acres of conditional patta lands from the red list, benefitting 22,000 farmers.

They said that in a first in any part of India, the AP government was undertaking a re-survey of lands after 100 years through the YSR Jagananna Shaswatha Bhu Hakku and Bhu Raksha initiative, so far providing 7,92,238 permanent title deeds to farmers in over 2,000 villages.

Resurvey of lands will be completed in all 17,584 villages and towns of the state by December 2023 in a phased manner, officials said.

About 3 lakh acres of RoFR pattas were already distributed to about 1.28 lakh tribals, with an allotment of at least 2 acres to all poor tribals, by issuing documents in the name of the Women of the families.

Goa set to bring in new policy for heritage houses

Tourism department will introduce a new heritage policy within the next few months to encourage owners of those houses to repair and convert their properties into tourist accommodations. Though there was a scheme which was notified several years ago, it was a failure, tourism minister Rohan Khaunte said.

Due to the certain Elements people were unable to take benefits of that scheme, he said. The tourism department will remove the hurdles and come up with a new policy, the minister said.

A lot of efforts have been put in the last one year to elevate Goa as a tourism destination and the results will be seen this year, though more needs to be done, he added.

While the hop on – hop off buses are ready to be launched, the tourism department is also looking at exploring and introducing new tourism Services.
Some of the services announced a few years, did not take off, but Khaunte said he has told an empowered committee to explore what kind of new services can be launched.

Five years ago, the tourism department launched an amphibian bus service vehicles that operate on land and sea to showcase back waters and interior parts of Goa. A service provider was selected, and two buses were procured, but the tourism department was not able to run the service due to lack of permission from the transport department.

Irrigation dept to seek panchayats help to prevent drowning in dam

The Irrigation department has decided to approach the 23 gram panchayats along theKhadakwasladam to intensify vigil in their areas to restrict people from entering water risking their lives.

The department also wants the panchayats to install caution boards on roads or paths leading to the dam water. The advisory is being issued following the recent incident of drowning of two girls in the Khadakwasla backwaters.

The Khadakwasla dam near the city has become a picnic spot. Footfall along the dam goes up significantly on weekends and on holidays. The irrigation department has installed caution boards at various locations, but officials claimed that people hardly followed the instructions.

Haryana CM launches HKRNL Enterprises Portal

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Sunday launched HKRNL Enterprises Portal which will help industries to raise their demands, while employable candidates also register themselves and apply for the open vacancy. With the launch of the portal, so far, according to the demand for 6000 manpower received from various companies, interview offers have been sent to more than 12,000 youths.

Expressing gratitude to the Chief Minister, industrialists and various industrial organizations who had joined the launch programme virtually, said that the industrial association had been wanting for such a scheme or initiative for a long time. With the launch of this portal, industries will get a big relief as it will be possible for them to get hassle free manpower.

Khattar said that on this IT portal, industries can register and generate demand for manpower. HKRNL will provide the shortlisted candidates in line with the ratio demanded by the respective organisations. Besides this, HKRNL will be able to provide manpower in various salary slabs ranging from 12,000 to 30,000, asserted Khattar.

The Chief Minister said that the has set up an Overseas Placement Cell to provide EMPLOYMENT opportunities to the youth in foreign countries as well. A target has been set to send about 1 lakh youth abroad in the first year.
