Need to have to have a result-oriented approach to war on drugs: Arunachal HM

Arunachal Pradesh Home Minister Bamang Felix on Monday advised the North Eastern Regional Youth Commission (NERYC) to have a result-oriented approach in their campaign against drug abuse.

The Minister made the suggestion during the launch of an anti-drug campaign which is being organized by the NERYC, the official youth organization of the Catholic Bishops Conference of North East India, in collaboration with the Itanagar Diocese.

The visiting team informed the Minister about the establishment of a drug rehabilitation center at Dobum village, Banderdewa under the Itanagar Diocese, and proposed another rehabilitation center at Ziro in Lower Subansiri district.


Raveena Tandon to get Bhupen Hazarika award

Bollywood actor Raveena Tandon will be conferred the Bhupen Hazarika Award 2023 by Beltola Bohagi Utsav Samiti during the Beltola Bohagi Utsav 2023 celebrations.

Raveena Tandon was closely associated with Bhupen Hazarika. She played the protagonist in Kalpana Lajmis film Daman in 2001. Raveen played the role of Durga Saikia which brought her the national award for best actress. Bhupen Hazarika composed the music for the film.

Rs 10,266.73 cr electricity dues not collected in State

Electricity dues worth Rs 10,266.73 crore have been pending against different types of consumers including industries in all the four distribution company areas of Odisha.

This was informed by Energy Minister Pratap Keshari Deb in the State Legislative Assembly.

In a reply to a question of MLA Nityanand Gand, the Minister said highest Rs 4,578.93 crore electricity dues are pending against the consumers in the Tata Power Western Odisha Distribution Limited (TPWODL) area while Rs 3,115.17 crore is pending in Tata Power Central Odisha Distribution Limited (TPCODL).

Similarly, electricity dues worth Rs 1,782.57 crore are pending in Tata Power North Odisha Distribution Limited (TPNODL) and Rs 750.06 crore is pending in the Tata Power South Odisha Distribution Limited (TPSODL).

As per the statement of Deb, Rs 7,872.95 crore electricity bills were pending against the domestic consumers in the four discom areas, of which highest Rs 3,650.14 crore is pending in TPWODL area, followed by Rs 2231.44 crore in TPCODL area, Rs 1,298.35 crore in TPNODL area and Rs 693.02 crore in TPSODL area.

Similarly, a total electricity duty of Rs 386.04 crore is pending against industries and Rs 996.98 crore is pending against different commercial establishments.

Tamil Nadus egg production: sunny side up

Nadu, the second largest egg producer in India, has seen a consistent increase in output over the past decade and a half. According to data from theRBI handbookofstatistics, TNsegg productionhas grown more than three times since 2004-05 when it produced 63,948 lakh. The tally grew consistently year on year 62,225 lakh in 2005-06, 80,435 lakh in 2006-07, 83,937 lakh in 2007-08, 88,098 lakh in 2008-09 and 108,476 lakh in 2009-10.

In the next ten years egg production doubled to hit 201,208 lakh in 2020-21. This despite disruption in both production and consumption during the pandemic years when misinformation about egg and chicken consumption impacted the sale of Poultry in the state. In 2020-21, TNs tally was second only toAndhra Pradesh, which produced 249,639 lakh eggs.

Kerala government makes Haritha Karma Sena user fee mandatory

The has made theuser feeforHaritha Karma Sena(HKS) mandatory, coming into effect from April 1. As per the order, if anyone defaults on the user fee payments, then it will be collected as arrears along with theirproperty tax.

As per the order, households and establishments are obliged to pay the user fee set by the local bodies to the relevant agencies for waste collection, including plastics. The local body can fix the monthly user fee. However, the order has not given any assurance on any kind of relaxations for the BPL category. But the local body has been given the authority to decide on exempting anyone from the user fee.

Panels for safe environment for kids in villages

TheKarnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights(KCPCR) chairmanNaganna Gowdaon Tuesday announced village level committees composed of social activists, representatives of NGOs, locals, etc to create a safe Environment for kids in the village level, which will be monitored bygram panchayatand district-level officials.

Meanwhile, a new observation Home for children in conflict with law is planned in Sathagalli area of the city. This home is coming up with all modern facilities.

RG Anand said the Monitoring App for Seamless Inspections (MASI) is helping the commission to follow the day to day activities at all the Child Care Centers. Now, based on the input we have collected about the observation homes in five states, we launched a field verification drive. This drive started from Mysuru, he added.

He stated that Karnataka is in the forefront of implementing pro-children policies. Anand said that the commission will look into all the matters pertaining to children from Mysuru along with the District Administration.

PM Narendra Modi to inaugurate Rs 11,355-crore projects in Hyderabad on April 8

Big deposits of 15 rare minerals found in Andhra Pradesh

The elements identified included allanite, ceriate, thorite, columbite, tantalite, apatite,zircon, monazite, pyrochlore euxenite and fluorite.

Goas solar portal one more green step ahead: PM Narendra Modi

PM Narendra Modi on Sunday lauded Goa for launching the solar rooftop online portal goasolar.in, developed by theGoa Energy Development Agency(GEDA), in collaboration with the department of new and and the electricity department.

Good step towards harnessing Solar Energy and furthering Sustainable Development, said the PM, sharing Goa chief minister Pramod Sawants tweet announcing the launch of the portal.

While announcing the new initiative, Sawant tweeted, The entire process of application, processing of application, installation of solar project, and the release of subsidy will be done online through the portal.

Services exports from Mihan up 22%, products see 3% growth

Export of Services from Mihan-SEZ, which mainly include Software and aircraft maintenance, has gone up by 22%. The exports of physical products by the manufacturing units on the other hand has seen a feeble Growth of 3%. As a SEZ, the units here have to essentially export the products or services, generating net Foreign Exchange earnings (NFE).

The data released by the development commissioners office for financial year 2022-23, which just ended, saw services export rise to 1,30,602 crore as against 1,07,358 crore last fiscal. Exports of physical products was at 41,594 crore as against 40,340 crore in FY 2021-22. This comes to a growth of 22% and 3%, respectively. Sources say this indicates that there is a need to increase by companies in the zone.
Currently, the major players are Lupin Pharma, and Dassault Reliance Aviation Limited, say sources.

Eleven new units, including Reliance DEFENCE, Kalpana Saroj Global Aviation, and Jai Armaments, have been given nod to start operations.

In line with the ministry of commerce directives, letters of approval of inactive units have been cancelled. However, at the same time efforts have been taken to bring back certain potential units. These include Zim Laboratories, Taj Stats, and Soni Polymers.
