Punjab Budget Session to begin with governors address on March 3

With thePunjab governor Banwarilal Purohitgiving his Consent, the Budget Session of thePunjab Assemblywill begin on March 3 with his address.

As per the date-wise programme issued by the Vidhan Sabha secretariat, there will be a and discussion on the governors address on March 6 (Monday) and legislative business will be carried out on March 7 (Tuesday) while March 9 (Thursday) has been reserved for non-official business.

Govt to seek funds from Japan agency to boost health infra

The will approach Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for financial assistance of Rs 2,835 crore for enhancing Health Infrastructure across various health institutions in the state. The Health Department is preparing a preliminary project report for discussion with JICA.

The government plans to allocate Rs 1,620 crore of this funding towards tertiary care infrastructure, including the strengthening of new medical colleges in Hamirpur, Chamba and Nahan with an expected financial outlay of Rs 1010 crore

A multi-institutional team formed byUttarakhandState Disaster Management Authority (USDMA) that is conducting geological and geotechnical investigation of areas witnessing subsidence inKarnaprayaghas found that “poor disposal of surface runoff water aggravated the subsidence problem in some parts of the town, making the ground unstable”.

A part of Karnaprayag is facing subsidence issues. And the primary cause, prima facie, appears to be poor Drainage System of surface runoff water. Similar problems exist in other hill towns of Uttarakhand as well.

Bihar CM Nitish Kumar rules out free power, says smart pre-paid meters by 2025

CMNitish Kumarsaid in the state assembly that the ongoing project of installing smart pre-paid meters for power consumers in the state would be completed by 2025. At the same time, he ruled out giving free electricity to any category of power consumers.

A total of 68 percent of the notified quantity of tendu patta procured was sold in Chhattisgarh through two phases of auctions at an Average rate of Rs 7,199 per standard bag amounting to Rs 822 crore.

According to the Chhattisgarh State Minor Forest Produce Co-operative Federation Ltd, a post-bid sale management Software has been developed for online auction of tendu patta.

This year, the Federation is paying special attention to the quality of tendu leaves before collection, ensuring that collectors gather high-quality leaves and receive maximum remuneration, a Communication said on Friday.

The government has hiked the tendu leafcollection rate from Rs 2,500 per standard bag to Rs 4,000 per standard bag since 2019.

In Chhattisgarh, online tenders were invited for the first phase of advance sale of 954 lots of 902 primary minor forest produce . The notified quantity of 16.72 lakh standard bags of tendu patta was collected in 2022-23.

AI gets hang of Gujarati to translate Chinese, Hindi text

Taking a cue from ChatGPT that has taken the world by storm, demonstrating what a good Database coupled with natural language processing (NLP) can do, many other projects are employing similar tech in the field of translation.

The researchers at Gandhinagar-based Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information and Communication Technology (DAIICT) have successfully created models for translating works in Hindi and Chinese into Gujarati and vice versa. They are now looking at adding Hebrew to the mix.

As part of the National Translation Mission (NTM) of the ministry of electronics and information technology, the DAIICT had received Rs 2 crore to develop algorithms for Gujarati language.

The project will have implications in the fields of e-Governance, Health and law.

Centre paves way to accord national status to Rajasthan canal project
