In a big initiative to reduce carbon emissions, the Centre has grantedAndhra Pradesha scheme to improve its green cover outside of forests.
The programme is being taken up with the support of USAID.
AP is one of the seven states including UP, Haryana, Rajasthan, Assam, Odisha and Naduthat have been picked up to implement the Trees Outside the Forests in India (TOFI) project.
This project has been designed to support farmers, local communities by strengthening Climate resilience of Agriculture-notes-for-state-psc-exams”>Agriculture.
The objective is to increase the tree coverage outside traditional forests contributing to Indias determined contribution target of creating an additional Carbon Sink of 2.5-3 billion tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent by 2030.
