Andhra Pradeshis gradually embracing suitable battery energy storage systems (BESS) in Conjunction with the solar, wind, and solar-wind hybrid projects. The recentreport on need for advanced chemistry cell energy storage in India has stressed on the need for cell energy storage projects as the projected substantial Growth may warrant gigascale manufacturing capacity in the coming years.
Three energy storage projects of Andhra Pradesh are in various stages of execution. Energy storage systems enable storage of surplus energy generated and provide the stored energy for use whenever required.
As per the NITI Aayogs report, battery demand is expected to rise to 260 gigawatt hours (GWh) in the accelerated scenario. This would require nearly 26 gigafactories with an Average advanced battery production capacity of 10 GWh per year.
