TheJharkhand governmenton Friday rolled out a special month-long drive for ensuring cent percent birth and death registrations in the state.
Finance minister Rameshwar Oraon launched the initiative at the Project Building. The drive will be held till August 14.
The special drive, government officials said, aims to focus on registration of birth through government-run schools in the state. Approximately 6 lakh children enrol into the schools in Jharkhand every year. The principals of all the schools have been directed to ensure that their birth dates are registered, K Ravi Kumar, the secretary of school Education and Literacy, said.
According to statistics available with the , roughly 30% of all deaths and births in Jharkhand go unregistered in any given point in time.
The government said special awareness campaigns will be held across nearly 5,000 birth and death registrationcentres of the state.
