The first edition of Rajiv GandhiUrbanOlympic Games and second edition ofRural Olympic Gameswill start from June 23, announcedRajasthansports ministerAshok Chandna. He also inaugurated the web portal for players’ registration for theRural Gameswhich is now operational for use.
“Last year, a budget of Rs 40 crore was sanctioned by the , while this year Rs 130 crore has been set aside for the two Games which will be flagged off on International Olympic Day (June 23) and conclude on International Sport Day (August 26). TheUrban Gamesand Rural Games will be organised at three and four levels respectively,” the Sports minister said.
Earlier theUrban Olympicswere scheduled for January 26, but things did not materialize. Around 9.50 lakh people registered for the same and those names will be added to the news entries which will come once registration portal for the urban Games reopens. “We will restart the registration process for the Urban Olympics very soon,” the sports minister said.
