Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Monday pledged to increase the amount of assistance of Rs 1 lakh to Rs 5 lakh to registered construction workers in the event of accidental death at the workplace.
He was addressing a workers conference held to mark the International Workers Day (Labour Day) at the Science College Ground in Raipur.
He said in case of permanent disability, the amount payable will be hiked from Rs 50,000 to Rs 2.5 lakh. Unregistered workers will also get assistance of Rs 1 lakh in case of death due to an accident at the workplace.
Baghel also announced a Chief Minister Construction Labour Monthly Season Ticket Card Scheme. It can be availed by registered construction workers who travel from their Home to the workplace by rail or bus.
Monthly ticket cards will be issued and are valid for travel up to 50 km. The Chhattisgarh Building and Other Construction Workers Board will bear the cost.
Under the Chief Minister’s Construction Workers Assistance Scheme, he said a grant of Rs 50,000 will be given to factory workers for construction or purchase of new houses.
Apart from it, for treatment of serious diseases like heart surgery, liver transplant, kidney transplant, neuro surgery, spinal cord surgery, leg knee surgery, cancer and paralysis, a grant of Rs 20,000 will be given to factory workers.
The Chief Minister said around Rs 56 crore is being transferred to the labourers through direct bank transfer.
