Rajasthan: Placement & training under central scheme drop in 3 years

Even as the funds released by the Centre for the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) increased to 97.14 crore in 2020-21 from 32.82 crore in 2018-19, the number of people trained and placed inRajasthanunder the scheme has dropped over the past three years.

From 10,217 trained and 3,380 placed in 2018-19, the figures dropped to 981 and 1,759 in 2020-21, stated a Lok Sabha reply. While 14,530 were trained in 2019-20, 4,692 were placed in the same year under the scheme, the reply stated.

Meanwhile, the number of beneficiaries under the National Social Assistance Programme in state up from 10.28 lakh in 2018-19 to 10.69 lakh in 2020-21. DDU-GKY is focused on rural youth between 15 and 35 years of age. As a part of the Skill India campaign, it plays an instrumental role in supporting the social and economic programs of the government like the , Digital India, Smart Cities, Start-Up India and Stand-Up India campaigns.
