PSP-V 2.0: Passport Seva Program

Version 2 of the Passport Seva Program is an expansion of Version 1 of the Passport Seva Program.

Highlights:

It’s a web-based service, established as part of the National E-Government Plan.

The Indian government plans to deploy e-Passports in the near future for citizens renewing or applying for new passports.

The primary goal of e-passports is to increase their security. It will facilitate immigration. It’s a step up from a standard passport.

A chip is included in the E-Passports. The chip contains the holder’s personal information, including biographical information.

Unauthorized data access is prevented as a result of this. National Informatics Centre and IIT Kanpur developed the Software for the E-Passport.

The E-Passports were created in conformity with ICAO guidelines. The International Civil Aviation Organization is known as ICAO.
