Performance to be criterion for schools to add sections

The state education department has decided that secondary and higher secondary schools will be allowed to have more than six sections per standard only if they register more than 50% results in board exams for three consecutive years.
Earlier, the rule stipulated 75% results for additional sections. However, there was no clarity on which three-year tenure will be considered.

Sources said that the government, in its 2012 notification, had stated that schools should record 75% or above results if they wanted to add more than six sections per standard in Classes 9-12. Since there was no clarity on the tenure, many schools thought that last yearsboard examresults would be considered to grant them the benefit of additional sections.
