Panchayats in Andhra Pradesh to practise good governance norm

In an attempt to streamline the administration in thevillagepanchayats, the has readied a comprehensive action plan. The government has asked all the panchayat governing bodies to follow Governance“>Good Governance practices to implement theschemesand programmes initiated by the state and union governments. The state government has directed the village panchayats to follow 11-golden principles to bring transparency to the administration.

The state government had recently opened separate bankaccountsto each and every village panchayat following the Centre’s directives. With the Centre making it clear that it would route the Finance Commission grants and other funds aimed at development of village panchayats directly through the panchayat accounts, the state government wants to bring discipline to the fund receipts and expenditure right at the panchayat level.

In order to bring all the village panchayats into one platform, the state government has made conduct of grama sabhas every month to make the Social Audit of the Revenue Receipts and expenditure mandatory.
