Realty sector may reap benefits of Kengeri Metro, expressway

The south-western extension of Purple Line and the 10-lane Bengaluru-Mysuru expressway are likely to boost the real estate sector, especially projects along Mysuru Road.
While the Mysuru Road-Kengeri Metro corridor will commence operations soon, the expressway is likely to be ready by October 2022.

Though many real estate firms take advantage of Metro connectivity, only a few have tied up with BMRCL. While Embassy Group is funding Kadubeesanahalli and Bettahalasur stations under Metros innovative financing concept, Prestige Group is funding Kodibisanahalli station.

GMR Hyderabad International Airport Limited (GHIAL), which owns and operatesHyderabad airport, is set to invest over Rs 500 crore towards metro connectivity at the airport. As per the company, theTelangana governmenthad sought financial contribution fromGHIALfor the metro project.

Considering the importance of providing metro rail connectivity for passengers, the board of GHIAL has recommended that it provides support up to 10% of the project cost.

The project cost of metro line would be around Rs 5000 crore and the company will be investing Rs 519.52 crore in the project, as per the report Application for determination of aeronautical tariffs for the third control period (April 1, 2021 to March 31, 2026) submitted to the Airport Economic Regulatory Authority (AERA).

GHIAL is also investing Rs 300 crore towards airfield pavement enhancement and Rs 75 crore on airfield ground lighting upgrade. The company has awarded the contract and works are in full swing to complete the same while air traffic movement is contained due toCovidand said it expects to complete it in the next 10 months, as per the report.

The state government has launchedintegrated land surveyunder YSR Jagananna Permanent Land Protection Scheme.

The survey would cover over 1.26 lakh square kilometres of land across the state, said Siddhartha Jain, commissioner, State Survey Settlement and Land Records.

The integrated survey would cover all categories of land including Agriculture-notes-for-state-psc-exams”>Agriculture, non-agriculture, urban and rural habitations. The survey would be done in hybrid methodology using drones, CORS Network and GNSS receivers.

The survey is also part of the central governments programme of Survey of Villages Abadi and Mapping with Improvised Technology In Village Areas (SAVAMITA).

The Union government is providing a 40% subsidy to residential consumers and 20% subsidy to group housing societies and residential welfare associations to install rooftop solar systems, a statement issued byMaharashtrastate electricity distribution company ltd (MSEDCL) said.The installation of a rooftop solar system will lead to huge savings in monthly household electricity bills, while the remaining electricity will also be purchased by MSEDCL at the end of each financial year through net metering arrangement.

A target of 25MW has been sanctioned for MSEDCL underMinistry of New and (MNRE) Phase-II scheme. Under this scheme, central financial assistance will be provided by the Centre for installation of rooftop Solar System of at least 1KW capacity to residential category consumers 40% subsidy for 1-3KW and 20% for 3-10KW. Consumers of group housing Society and residential welfare association will also get a 20% subsidy for common facilities up to 500KW, with a limit of 10KW per house.

Haryana Government’s Excise and Taxation Department has recorded an increase in revenue by 65 percent this year as compared to previous financial year.

Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala, who also holds the portfolio of Excise and Department, on Sunday said that during this excise year 2021-22 till August 26, 2021 from all four types of tax (VAT, CST, GST and Excise) of the department, a revenue of Rs 20,558 crore has been collected, whereas in the same period last year, Rs 12,831 crore was received by the Government.

There has been an increase of 65 percent in the said period as compared to last year, he said. Giving information about the total revenue collected from VAT, CST, GST and Excise during the last 3 years, he said that Rs 37,350 crore in the year 2018-19, Rs 39,837 crore in the year 2019-20 and Rs 45,119 crore in the year 2020-21 had been collected as revenue. The Deputy Chief Minister further informed that for the year 2020-21, the liquor contracts of the Excise Department were auctioned for Rs 3,559 crore while the reserve price was Rs 3,128 crore.

He said that for the excise year 2021-22, those who already had licenses were given the option to take contracts with an increase of 10 percent and thus 85 percent of the contracts were renewed.

In this excise year, revenue from liquor contracts amounting to Rs. 3,803 crore was received in the form of fees, he added.

He also said that during the year 2020, an additional quota of 32.42 percent of country liquor and 25.45 percent of foreign liquor made in India was raised.

Dushyant informed that during the inspection in the excise year 2020-21, 1,249 cases were caught for violating the rules, in which a fine of Rs 257 crore was imposed on defaulters. About Rs. 136 crore has also been recovered from them, he added.

In a heartening development in water-stressedPunjab, cultivation area under the water-guzzlingnon-basmati paddy crophas come down by over four lakh acres (1.62 lakh hectares).In comparison, area under the less water-guzzlingbasmaticrop has increased by 1.97 lakh acres (79,000 hectares). Taking both into account, area under basmati and non-basamaati paddy shrunk by 2.08 lakh acres (83,000 hectares).

As basmati is sown late, when monsoon has already set in and evapotranspiration (ET) ratio has down, it consumes less water. For less consumption of underground water, paddy transplantation through water-saving direct seeded rice (DSR) technique too has increased to 6 lakh hectares from the previous 5 lakh hectares. In this technique, 12% less water is consumed.

In Punjab, 85% Resources“>Water Resources used for crop Irrigation. As perPAUexperts, 73% area in Punjab is irrigated through tube wells and 80% area has converted into dark zones as extraction of underground water is more than recharge. Punjabs groundwater availability is of 21.58 billion cubic metre (BCM), whereas extraction is 35.78 BCM through nearly 15 lakh tube wells, which is 165% of availability. Of 35.78 BCM, 34.58 BCM is used for irrigation.

The Speaker of Uttarakhand assembly Prem Chand Agarwal adjourned the monsoon session assembly sine die. On the last day the members participated in a discussion on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) of the United Nations Organisation (UNO).

The Speaker added that in the 63th Commonwealth Parliamentary Association convention held at Dhaka on October 10, 2017 it was decided that in state assemblies elaborate discussions on the SDGs would be held and any one day should be allotted for it. SDGs are a collection of 16 global goals set by the UNO which cover a broad range of social and issues like Health, Education, social Justice, POVERTY, Climate-change”>Climate Change, gender Equality, drinking water sanitation, energy and Environment. The SDGs are also known as Transforming our World- the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

BrahMos missiles will be manufactured by theDefence Research and Development Organisation(DRDO) in Lucknow. It is part of the memorandum of understanding signed betweenDRDOand UPExpressways Industrial Development Authority(UPEIDA) during DEFENCE Expo held last year in February. To instill a culture of sports and identify talent in the State, Chief Minister Hemant Soren has directed officials of the Sports Department to work on a special sports scheme named the Sahay scheme for the youth residing in Naxal-affected areas. The CM has directed the officials to work extensively to especially connect youth below the age of 19 with the scheme.

Under this scheme, potential Sports talent will be identified from the Panchayat level and taken to the Block level and District level where they will be prepared for national and international sports events. The scheme will be implemented in coordination with the sports and Police departments. The objective of the scheme is to reduce the gap between the people and the police through sports and by giving identity to the budding talent.

Under the Sahay scheme, the government plans to organize multiple sports tournaments in collaboration with national and state-level sports federations. Indian Women‘s national football camp being organized in Jamshedpur from 16 August 2021 is part of the governments plan to promote the state as a soft sports destination. The camp will prepare women players for the Asian Football Cup which is to be held from 20 January 2022 to 6 February 2022. This will encourage women football players from Jharkhand to play with national-level players and get insight into their past experiences.

The draft for the new sports policy of the state is almost ready. The policy lays emphasis on developing sports culture across the state. As per the draft sports policy, the government plans to develop free day boarding centres in each block along with equipping every district with modern state of the art residential training centres.
