Swasth Mahila, Swasth Goa initiative was started by the “YouWeCan Foundation” in Goa.

Highlights

The initiative was started by the YouWeCan foundation, run by international cricket icon and philanthropic Yuvraj Singh.

The foundation has partnered with the SBI and Goa’s state governments and aims to do free breast cancer screening using “iBreast devices”.

Around 1 lakh Women will be screened over two years, and the initiative would guarantee that 50 per cent of the eligible female Population in Goa is screened.

The Swasth Mahila, Swasth Goa initiative is funded by the “Indian Institute of Banking & Finance” and the SBI Foundation.

Under the initiative, free treatment will be provided for all the positive cases. For treating them, the government of Goa will also extend its support.

Breast cancer screening will be conducted across 35 Health Centres in Goa.

For this, 20 iBreast devices will be deployed where

10 will be deployed in North Goa and 10 in South Goa.

iBreast Exam will be used to screen under the initiative.

It is a non-invasive, fully wireless, hand-held, mHealth point-of-care solution to detect breast lesions.

iBE has shown high sensitivity and specificity for detecting non-palpable lesions at the initial stage.

Wildlife Action Plan 2021-30 Passed By Maharashtra

The government of Maharashtra approved its own Wildlife Action Plan 2021-2030.

Highlights

The Wildlife Action Plan was passed during the 17th meeting of the State Board for Wildlife (SBWL).

Wildlife Action Plan (2021-2030) will be implemented over the next 10 years.

Maharashtra

became India’s first state to pass its own Wildlife Action Plan.

The board has also approved the extension of the boundary of Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve in the Chandrapur district of the Vidarbha region.

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Monday said that a plan has been prepared to raise the income level of one lakh families having annual income of Rs 50,000 up to Rs 1.80 lakh per annum under the Mukhyamantri Antyodaya Parivar Utthan Yojana.

To resolve the grievances pertaining to senior citizens across Punjab, the State Government on Thursday launched a dedicated helpline Elder Line-14567 for senior citizens at MGSIPA, Chandigarh. Every senior citizen of Punjab can call on 14567 for any grievance, said the state Social Security and Women and Child Development Minister Razia Sultana.

Besides providing support and guidance, it will also make aware about government schemes and programmes for their welfare and facilitate queries. For this purpose, the government has appointed field officers in all 23 districts of the State to help elders at ground level, she added.

CSK HP Agriculture University, SJVN to train 1,000 Himachal farmers

Jharkhand to develop 500-acre industrial corridor along highway

The Jharkhand government plans to develop a new industrial corridor spread over 500 acres along the highway connecting Govindpur to Sahibganj in the city of Dhanbad.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren has directed the authorities to use the land on both sides of the road connecting the highway for this project.

The secretaries of the Industries, Revenue and Land reforms departments have been asked to prepare a report after assessing the prospects, availability of land and other Resources.

The road connecting Govindpur to Sahibganj in Dhanbad is 311 kms long. Dhanbad is the hub of coal production while the state’s only port at Sahibganj was started in 2019. There is ample potential for industrial development along this highway and its surrounding areas.

The plans to build an industrial economic corridor within 50 km of the road which will create EMPLOYMENT opportunities for more than 50,000 people. Hemant Soren has directed the officials to use the land for setting up industries as well as for housing.

For this project, the state government has directed the Deputy Commissioners of all the districts in the Santhal Pargana division. Officials have been asked to assess the compensation and other facilities etc. to be given in lieu of acquisition of farmers’ land.

In order to develop the Govindpur-Sahibganj Road as an industrial corridor, several connected spur roads will be constructed so that industrial units to be established around this road could be connected with the main road. Firms willing to set up industries will be provided land.

Later, this road will also be connected to the Ganga river at Sahibganj and the Ganga bridge being built there which will ease connectivity to Bihar and the north-east. This will also expand the scope of businesses.

IIIT-Bhagalpurs software for Covid test gets ICMR nod

The Indian Council of Medical Research (Icmr) has approved the (AI) based Software technology COVZN, developed by theIIIT-Bhagalpurfor detection of Covid-19, tuberculosis and other severe chest infections at low cost and in less time. The ICMR has given its nod to use it at hospitals and laboratories across the country.

The researchers at IIIT-Bhagalpur had started working on the project after the surge of Covid-19 patients and delay in Covid testing since March, 2020.

ICMR had formed a high-level advisory committee headed by Dr Randeep Guleria (director of All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi) and experts from the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) to explore the COVZN software and suggest the modalities for using it as soon as possible.

National Tribal Dance Festival To Be Held In Chhattisgarh 28-30 October

Indian and international dance groups will take part in the National Tribal Dance Festival in Raipur On 28 October.

The three-day festival, organised under the tourism development plan of the Chhattisgarh government, will host artists belonging to diverse tribal communities from countries.
The artists

from tribal areas of Bastar, Dantewada, Koriya, Korba, Bilaspur, Gariabandh, Manipur, Dhura, Dhamtari, Surguja and Jashpur in Chhattisgarh will present their unique HISTORY, culture and traditions.

In 2019, the first edition of the National Tribal Dance Festival saw the participation of tribal communities from across 25 states of India and six guest countries and an attendance of over one lakh people.

The festival will feature particular dance forms of tribes from Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, , Manipur, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, and Jammu and Kashmir, among 27 states this year.

The dance performances will be held in ‘wedding ceremonies’ and ‘other prominent rituals’.

Apart from highlighting tribal Art and Culture, the festival will also feature discussions on Economic Development initiatives of tribal communities.
