All symbols of colonialism will be renamed in Uttarakhand: CM Pushkar Singh Dhami

Uttarakhandchief ministerPushkar Singh Dhamion Saturday said that he has given instructions that all the symbols of colonialism in the state would be rechristened.

Chief Minister said, “After PM Narendra Modi came to power, all the symbols of colonialism are being changed in the country. The names of the roads

and cities in Uttarakhand are from the British era and they will be changed. We have given instructions in the state that all symbols of colonialism be renamed.”

This comes months after Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose’s statue and inaugurated the rechristened ‘Kartavya Path’ in Delhi which was earlier called Rajpath.

Noida reports ‘poor’ AQI, Ghaziabad air among the country’s worst

The air quality of Ghaziabad and Meerut on Saturday was the third worst in the country, recording an AQI of 312. So far in October, this is the first time that Ghaziabad’s AQI has breached

the 300-mark.

Ghaziabad’s air quality index, however, was based on the reading of only two pollution monitoring stations out of four. The readings for Indirapuram and Vasundhara were not available. Loni station at 7.10pm recorded an AQI of 355 which comes under the ‘very poor’ category while Sanjay Nagar recorded an AQI of 260.

The Centre for Endangered Language Studies (CELS) atIITPatna is doing a pioneering job for the conservation of endangered languages ofBiharand its adjoining regions.

Working under the department of humanities and social studies, the Centre has carried out a number of meaningful studies in a very short span of its establishment, the Covid-19 pandemic notwithstanding.

CELS head Sweta Sinha said that an annual project sponsored by the Indian Council for Social Science Research (ICSSR) and awarded to the Centre to create a contextualized disaster mitigation framework rooted in the indigenous knowledge system of Bihar has been successfully completed and the findings of the study have already been published in premier research journals.

Chhattisgarh to study TN, Karnataka quota pattern

Chhattisgarh government will depute a team to visit Nadu,Karnatakaand Maharashtra to study the reservation pattern in these states in an apparent bid to find a solution to the impasse after the state High Court struck down 58% reservation holding that any reservation beyond 50% is unconstitutional.

At a high-level meeting held at his residence, chief ministerBhupesh Bagheldirected officials to form a team to study the reservation pattern in these states where more than 50% reservation is prevailing.

Earlier, a faction of Sarva Adivasi Samaj had also decided to form core committees to study the legal, political and social situations arising out of the high court decision due to which reservation of scheduled tribes went down from 32% to 20%.

Three boards to be formed for economic upliftment

The positivity rate of the state in the last seven days (from July 20 to July 26) has been 1.24%. TheCentrehas so far sanctioned projects worth over Rs 450 crore under various components of Pradhan Mantri Kisan SAMPADA Yojana (PMKSY) for overall growth and development of the food processing sector.

In a written reply inLok Sabha, Union Food Processing ministerPrahlad Singh Patelsaid under PMKSY, the Centre has so far released grant-in-aid of around Rs 109 crore toOdishaunder various component schemes.

The food processing industries ministry provide credit-linked financial assistance (capital subsidy) in the form of grants-in-aid to entrepreneurs for setting up of food processing and preservation

as well as food processing units, said the Union minister.

The Centre has so far sanctioned 12 component projects under the PMKSY of which as many as seven have been completed. PMKSY is a demand-driven scheme and is being implemented across the country, said Patel.

Odishas first mega food park was set up by thefood processing ministryat Rayagada at an Investment of around Rs 81 crore, including central assistance of Rs 50 crore, with facilities like fully operational industrial sheds, developed industrial plots for

lease to food processing units, rice processing complex, warehouse, cold store, multi-fruit processing facility and other similar facilities. It was planned to benefit around 25,000 farmers in the tribal-dominated region.
The Centre has also planned another mega food park in the state with an aim to attract private investment in food processing sector, also a focus sector of the State Government.
