Decks cleared for Rs 1,813-cr water scheme for Shimla

Decks have been cleared for the Rs 1,813-crore Satluj water supply scheme for meeting the water requirements of the state capital till 2050 as the Cabinet approved the draft negotiation package for the -funded project.

The Cabinet at its meeting chaired by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur gave approval for the negotiations by the Urban Development Department with the World Bank and Department of Economic Affairs,

Ministry of Finance, Government of India for funding Shimla Water Supply and Sewerage Services delivery programme for improvement of water services in Greater Shimla Area.

Urban Development Minister Suresh Bhardwaj revealed that out of $250 million (Rs 1,813 crore), the World Bank will provide

financial assistance to the tune of $160 million (Rs 1,160.32 crore) and the remaining amount of $90 million (Rs 652.68 crore) will be borne by the Himachal Government. He added that Principal Secretary, Department of Urban Development, had been authorized to finalize and sign the negotiation package with the World Bank.

The main component of the water scheme include augmentation of Shimla water supply from river Sutlej with additional 67 MLD to meet the water demand of the state capital up to year 2050. The scheme will help meet the bulk water supply requirement to Shimla peri-urban areas and meet the demand of Special Area Development Authorities (SADA) of Kufri, Shoghi, Ghanahatti and additional planning areasand improved sewerage services within the MC areas.

Corbett Tiger Reserve NTCA

The Delhi has requested the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) to reflect on consideration as illustration a petition to end the alleged illegal construction of bridges and partitions inside tiger breeding habitat of the Corbett Tiger Reserve.

It was installed in 2005 following the hints of the Tiger Task Force.

It was once constituted beneath enabling provisions of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, as amended in 2006, for strengthening tiger conservation, as per powers and features assigned to it.

Giving wings to the hopes of the youth, the Uttar Pradesh government’s Swarojgar Yojana aims to make them financially stable by providing them employment and youths are being trained in various skills under the programme so that they may move towards self-reliance.

Mega camps are also being organised at district level for disbursement of loans to the beneficiaries of Micro, Small and Medium enterprises (MSME), Swarojgar and One District One Product (ODOP) schemes. Owing to these schemes, the educated unemployed are getting opportunities and skilled and hard working youths are getting a chance to stand on their feet.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had launched Mukhyamantri Yuva Swarojgar Yojana on August 11 last year to connect the youth with self-EMPLOYMENT. Under the scheme, youths are being attracted towards self-employment by giving them loans through banks as well as other support and as many as 1,11,000 young artisans

are being trained.

The government has sanctioned loans worth more than Rs 7,500 crore to the beneficiaries of MSME, self-employed, ODOP, PM SVANidhi and other schemes by organising mega camps in all districts of the state from August 11. It is also going to organise campaigns soon to provide benefits of the scheme to other youths of the state. The government has also issued instructions to organise mega camps at the divisional level in the second half of September.

Filaria eradication programme will be launched in 12 filaria affected districts of the State by Health Minister Banna Gupta. This programme will run from August 23 to August 27 in the filaria affected areas.

Mass Drug Administration campaign with two drugs DEC and Albendazole in 11 districts namely Giridih, Chatra, Dumka, East Singhbhum, Garhwa, Godda, Hazaribagh, Khunti, Lohardaga, Ranchi, West Singhbhum and three drugs that DEC, Albendazole and Ivermectin in Simdega will be done in compliance with the restrictions and protocols of Covid-19. The Mission Director said that the success of this programme is possible only when there is public participation in it and appealed to all the beneficiaries to take anti-filaria medicine.

Special postal cover on Sikki art released in Darbhanga

With a view to going vocal for local, a special cover onSikkigrass products was released at the Postal Training Centre in Darbhanga.

Such special postal covers were necessary for making the traditional products of Bihar popular at the national level.

The special cover would help create awareness about Sikki craft and provide a fillip to the Cottage industries. Most Sikki artists belong

The traditional craft, which received the geographical indication tag in 2007, is made from a special kind of grass called Sikki. The products are eco-friendly, natural, stylish, attractive, and affordable.

Chhattisgarh govt mulls to cut down liquor in phases

The government-constituted committeethat was formed to study the aspects of liquor ban in Chhattisgarh, held its second meeting recently. The legislators said that since the sudden ban may disturb social fabric and increase smuggling, the state is looking for an alternative for habitual alcoholics.

The government is mulling to reduce the number of liquor shops and reduce the operation timing. It will also be taken care that the of alcohol

does not adversely affect the culture of the tribals.

The committee will study the impact of liquor ban on state’s financial structure on the economy, on social sphere, challenges in implementing prohibition and

situations impacting the law and order of the states.

Proposed pharma cluster near Indore eyes Rs 400 crore investment

A dedicated cluster for homegrowndrugmanufacturers may attract an of over Rs 400 crore from around 40 industries, claimedMadhya PradeshSmall Scale Drug Manufacturers Association.

The Micro, Small and Medium enterprises (MSME) department has proposed five clusters, namely furniture, toys, confectionery, pharmaceuticals and Food Processing in theIndoreregion. The pharmaceutical cluster is expected to come in close proximity to the Indore-Ujjain road.

The association has demanded 100 acres of land from the State Government to set up the cluster.

10,000 jobs to flood Gujarats IT sector in next six months

Buoyed by the increasing demand for digitisation and automation in the states Information Technology (IT) and IT-Enabled Services (ITES) sector, companies in Gujarat are looking to hire more people in the days to come. estimates by IT giants and other firms suggest that at least10,000 more people are expected to be hired in the IT sector of Gujarat in the coming two quarters.

Rajasthan ranks fourth in national vaccination drive

More than 6 lakh doses ofCovidvaccines were administered to beneficiaries in the state on Tuesday, taking the inoculation count to 4.05 crore mark. Out of the total figures, 3.07 crore are first doses and 98.36 lakh are second.

in the list of the maximum vaccinations in the country. It was at the fifth position till Tuesday morning, but it climbed one position as Madhya Pradesh slipped to the 5th spot. Uttar Pradesh, with more than 6.51crore doses, tops the list, followed byMaharashtra(5.4 crore) andGujarat(4.36crore).

At a time when the Health department is focusing on vaccination, the number of Covid daily infections continued to remain between 5 and 20 cases daily. Ten persons tested positive forCovid-19 in the state on Tuesday taking the overall tally to 9,54,040. The states death toll stands at 8,954.

Districts which reported new cases are Jaipur (5), Bharatpur (2) and one case each was reported from Bikaner,Ajmerand Alwar.

Manipur CM leads first-ever tree plantation drive in reserve forest area

Chief ministerN Biren Singhon Monday led other dignitaries in the first-ever tree plantation programme in the state being taken up in a reserve forest area in Kangpoki district.
The mass plantation programme, organized byManipur forest and department, was taken up atMangjo village,Kangpokpi Reserve Forest, in connection with the 72nd Van Mahotsav 2021.

Forest minister Awangbow Newmai raised concern on the alarming rate of deforestation in the state.

Newmai informed that about 400 square kilometers of forest had been cleared every year, and with this rate, the state would lose almost all its

forest cover in near future.
Biren appealed to the public to co-operate in the development policies and projects taken up by the government and refrain from thinking that their lands independently belong to them, said a statement issued by theCM’s office.
