Govt offices in Himachal to go paperless; CM issues instructions to IT dept

Himachal Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu Monday directed the IT department officials to complete all the formalities for e-office implementation in the government offices in the state in a timely manner. The state governments vision is to create a digitally advanced state with secure, accessible, digital for effective Governance, he said.

The chief minister added that plans were underway to incorporate technology in various sectors and the IT department should take a lead in building a robust digital infrastructure across the state.

All the branches of the Himachal Pradesh Secretariat, Directorates, Deputy Commissioner (DC) offices, Superintendent of Police (SP) offices and field offices are expected to go paperless from July 1, according to an official statement. The state has 109 branches of the secretariat, 70

directorates, 12 deputy commissioner offices and 14 SP offices, all of which will become paperless under the e-office system, it said.

The Uttar Pradesh government is contemplating setting up manufacturing and logistics clusters spread over 600 hectares alongside the expressways. UP has the longest network of expressways in the country.

MOUs for these proposed clusters, to be set up at the cost of Rs 10 lakh crore, were signed during the UP Global Investors Summit earlier this year in Lucknow.

The proposed mega clusters will come up around Purvanchal and Bundelkhand expressways apart from the Gorakhpur Link Expressway. The government has identified 600 hectares of land in six districts Barabanki, Ghazipur, Jaunpur, Gorakhpur, Banda, and Jalaun.

Of the total proposals of Rs 35 lakh crore, Purvanchal (Eastern UP) and Bundelkhand regions hold a share of Rs 9.54 lakh crore and Rs 4.27 lakh crore, respectively. They collectively account for almost 40 per cent of the total value of the MoU.

Since investors need large swathes of land to set up manufacturing

units or for Warehousing and Logistics needs, the state is moving fast to ramp up the land bank for allotment to companies.

NOU inks pact with Patna University

Giving details of the MoU, the NOU VC said that his university has already signed MoU with a number of other reputed institutions inside and outside the state, including Patliputra University, Maulana Mazhar-ul Haq Arabic andPersian Universityand Chandragupt Institute of Management Patna. It is also set to sign an MoU with IIT Patna this week in order to expand its academic horizon.

Chief minister Ashok Gehlot has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, requesting him to release the outstanding amount of Rs 730.81 crore, the

central government’s share in the Scheduled Tribes Post Matric Scholarship Scheme (STPMSS).

Gehlot has written that for the educational upgradation of ST students, the scheme is being run. According to the guidelines of the scheme, the ratio between the centre and the state is fixed at 75:25. Under this scheme, about 3 lakh applications are received in the state every year, for which about Rs 400 crore is required every year of which the central share is about Rs 300 crore.

The CM said that in the financial year 2022-23, the state had fixed a demand of Rs 380.26 crore (central share amount of Rs 285.20 crore) on the basis of the applications received under this scheme. The Centre has released only Rs 77.81 crore out of its share.

A total amount of Rs 730.81 crore is outstanding, including Rs 430.81 crore for the applications received for the financial year 2022-23 and the outstanding applications of the previous year, and Rs 300 crore for the applications of the current financial year( 2023-24). He urged the Prime Minister to release the outstanding amount at the earliest so that the scholarship could be paid on time to the scheduled tribe students of the state.
