AP govt to launch animal exchange programme with other states

The forest department said that the addition of new animals will add glamour to existing zoological parks and attract more tourists.

Goa to pass law to recover cost for recycling of plastic

Goa will introduce a legislation making it mandatory for manufacturers selling packaged goods in the state to implement a deposit refundable system (DRS).

Environment minister Nilesh Cabral said that, under the system, manufacturers will add a small additional cost to their products sold within Goa. Once the product is consumed, the consumer will be able to get the additional cost paid or deposit back on returning the packaging of plastic or glass bottle to retailers at certain predesignated spots.

Underscoring the importance of safeguarding the interests of landowners, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Sunday said that the has undertaken the task of laying power lines that traverse their farmlands and fields.

The Chief Minister directed the officers to formulate policies that prioritize the welfare of farmers, ensuring their benefits. He emphasized the importance of effective coordination among the Power Corporation officials to address the concerns of farmers promptly.

Notably, the farmers from Tigaon and Dayalpur villages have requested an increase in the compensation amount. The foundation work for approximately 124 towers has been completed, covering more than a dozen villages in Prithla and Tigaon along this 29.5-kilometer-long power line.

Now, rural dispensaries in Punjab to be made Aam Aadmi Clinics

According to sources in the Health Department, all civil surgeons have been asked to prepare lists of centres that can be converted into AACs. In the third phase, the government plans to convert four dispensaries in each large district and two in every small district into AACs.

Moreover, some rural dispensaries will get grant for the first time in the past 17 years. It was in 2006 when most of the rural dispensaries under the Rural Development and Panchayats Department got grants for the upkeep of buildings. Some of the rural dispensaries are in very bad condition.

With an aim to provide better health facilities to the rural Population, the government transferred 1,186 rural dispensaries from the Health Department to the Rural Development and Panchayats (RDP) Department in 2006. But now a majority of these have been given back to the Health Department and around 550 are with the RDP Department.

HP to have dedicated special task force to combat drug menace

Himachal Pradesh Government is planning to set up a dedicated task force to combat the drug menace in the hill state.

The has taken up the issue of making the Narcotics Act more stringent with the Central Government so that the properties of drug peddlers can be confiscated and strict action can be taken against them, he said.

To tackle drug addiction and aid in the rehabilitation of affected individuals, the State Government plans to establish two State-of-the-art drug de-addiction-cum-rehabilitation centers in Himachal. About 50 bighas of land is being identified for setting up each center, which will focus on providing effective treatment and support to those in need, he said, adding that as the State Government continues its endeavours to combat drug abuse, Himachal remains committed to ensure the welfare and prosperity of its citizens.

Highlighting the importance of modernizing the Police Department, Sukhu said that the Government would extend full support to enhance the capabilities of law enforcement. He advocated the use of modern technologies like Artificial Intelligence to make the Police Department more efficient. The State Government has sanctioned four new police stations, with three to be located on the Kiratpur-Manali four-lane highway, and one in Bir in Kangra district.

PM Modi gifts Uttarakhand’s long-grained rice to US president Joe Biden

Confirming that the hill state’s rice formed a part of the gifts presented to the US president, CM Pushkar Singh Dhami on Thursday expressed his gratitude toPM Modifor giving representation to a product of the Himalayan region.

Uttarakhand has around 80 varieties of rice grown across its plain areas, including Udham Singh Nagar, Nainital, Haridwar, and Dehradun districts as well as its hilly regions.

The long-grained rice is one of the distinctive varieties, that retails for Rs 110 to Rs 165 per kg.

The gift of rice was done in accordance with the Vedic tradition of ‘Sahasra Poorna Chandrodyam’ (a celebration of a person having seen 1000 full moons during his/her life).

1,23,733 inheritance cases settled under Varasat campaign

The Uttar Pradesh government has settled as many as 1,23,733 pending inheritance related cases in the state under the Varasat campaign since May 30 this year.

The Yogi Adityanath government launched Varasat campaign with the aim to end land and revenue disputes as well as cases of illegal occupation of land by land mafia.

The campaign, which will continue till July 31, seeks to settle inheritance related cases that have been pending with the Revenue department for several years, by getting the names of the legal inheritors of properties registered in khataunis (land records) to end disputes once and for all.

As per the directions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, a special Varasat campaign is being run by the Revenue Board in all the gram sabhas of the state. It may be mentioned here that most of the cases related to land disputes are heard on Tehsil Day in every district of the state. The Police data also include a large number of land dispute cases. Therefore, the campaign also aims at curbing land conflicts and controlling highhanded behaviour of tehsil employees.

The Yogi government has also set the target of 100 per cent disposal of the pending cases of undisputed inheritance in the state during the campaign along with getting the names of the legal heirs registered in khatauni.

The Varasat campaign is proving to be a great initiative for legal successors of properties in getting physical rights in time, reducing unnecessary revenue disputes and illegal occupation of land by land mafia and anti-social Elements. It helps in maintaining law and order related to terrestrial rights.

Cabinet nod to backward commission to conduct triple test

The road map for providing reservation to Other Backward Caste (OBC) in local bodies and panchayats has been made as the State Cabinet today gave its nod to the constitution of State Backward Commission which will carry out a triple test for OBC categories.

It was decided to conduct a triple test for OBC reservation before the municipal . The State Backward Commission was given its responsibility. The commission will conduct a survey in the state and submit a report to the government, on the basis of which civic body elections will be conducted.

The triple test requires the government to complete three tasks for finalisation of reservation to OBCs in the local bodies. These include: a) To set up a dedicated commission to conduct a rigorous empirical inquiry into the nature and implications of the backwardness in local bodies, b) To specify the proportion of reservation required in local bodies in Light of recommendations of the commission, so as not to fall foul of over breadth; c) To ensure reservation for SCs/STs/OBCs taken together does not exceed an aggregate of 50 per cent of the total seats.
