While urging the state government to compensate flood-affected families and farmers immediately,Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry(GCCI) asked chief ministerPramod Sawantto form a task force to find out the reason for the yearly floods.

In a letter to Sawant, GCCI said that it is willing to support and collaborate with the government in the relief efforts. The body has identified short-term measures as well as long-term measures to prevent similar instances from recurring.

GCCI has also urged the State Government to set up local Disaster Management cells across all red zones. The cells should comprise members who can actively monitor climactic changes and the resultant impact along Goas riverfront and rainwater catchment areas around Dams.

Even as the Centre on Tuesday sanctioned over Rs 700 crore as compensation against the Rs3,700 crore sought by the state towards the rainfall-related losses inMaharashtralast year, the preliminary estimate of this years losses has been pegged at Rs4,000 crore till now, with damages to government infrastructure making up for a large chunk.

As thetollrose to 209, the state cabinet is likely to announce a special compensation package for Konkan and Western Maharashtra region that were worst hit. The compensation will be on the lines of that announced during the Nisarg and Tauktae .

The state governments compensation proposal to the Centre for rain-related losses last year was over Rs 3,721 crore. The State Government had sanctioned Rs 4,375 crore from its coffers for the affected districts. The central norms for compensation were drafted in 2015. The state has been hiking the norms and giving compensation, therefore a large burden falls on the state.

Taking State Governments vision of groundwater development and management a step further, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Thursday approved the engagement of District Implementation Partners (DIPs) for six clusters to support the successful implementation of Atal Bhujal Yojana.

After the approval, DIPs will prepare the village water security plans and facilitate the implementation of Atal Jal at the gram panchayat level. They will also facilitate community engagement and social behavioural transition.

The Chief Minister was further apprised that Atal Bhujal Yojana is a Participatory Groundwater Management scheme supported by the Central Government and and implemented by the Haryana Government. The major objective of this scheme is to create the hydrogeological data Network of groundwater Resources and further building community institutions to manage the groundwater resources in Haryana.

As a part of the programme, community mobilisation and awareness activities, as well as capacity building of stakeholders, will take place. Initially, the water security plan of each village will be prepared and the same will be implemented over the next four years.

Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh assured a farmers delegation that he would soon meet the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari to raise their demand for further revision in compensation against land acquired by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) under the Bharatmala Pariyojana.

The farmers have rejected the meager compensation awarded by the District Revenue Officers (DROs), who have been designated as CALAs (Competent Authority for Land Acquisitions).

The issue relates to 25,000 hectares of land in 15 districts across the State. The land is under process of acquisition for the project covering multiple expressways, viz Delhi-Jammu-Katra, Jamnagar-Amritsar, Ludhiana-Ropar, Bathinda-Dabwali, besides bypass for Jalandhar and Ludhiana.

Himachal Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur laid foundation stones of 44 developmental projects worth about Rs 200 crore in Darang assembly constituency of Mandi district.

Thakur, while addressing a public meeting at Bhatog in Darang Vidhan Sabha area announced shifting of PWD division no-1 from Mandi to Darang, Rs 25000 each for Mahila Mandals present on the occasion, Rs 10 lakh each for construction of Panchayat Bhawans in two new panchayats of the area and Rs 3 lakh for construction of link road in the area.

He said that the would take up the matter regarding opening of sub Judge court at Darang.

The Chief Minister also laid foundation stones of Rs 11.70 crore lift Irrigation scheme from river Beas to village Tandoo-Mehar-Pakhari-Dadwas and Bhatog in tehsil Sadar, Rs 60.58 crore lift water supply scheme to PC habitation Baragaon, Kufri, Dhamchayan and Tikker etc. in tehsil Padhar under NDB scheme, Rs 2.50 crore Shiv project at Badagaon and Rs 3.38 crore Choura to Kumharda road under PMGSY.

Uttarakhand postal circle records uptick in doorstep delivery of Gangajal

The latest data from the Uttarakhand postal circle has revealed that the demand for Gangajal jumped up during the peak months of the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to the official data, 45,648 (11,412 in litres) bottles of Gangajal of 250 ml size were delivered to doorsteps between April and June this year. This is an increase from last year when the postal department delivered 42,288 bottles in the corresponding months.

The Gangajal is sold at Rs 30+transportation cost by the Uttarakhand postal department under project Gangajal, which was launched in 2016. The project covers 3,000 post offices under 22 postal circles in India.

Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath unveils portal for interaction with government

To ensure greater participation of people in Governance, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched MyGov-Meri Sarkar portal.

The portal will give citizens a platform to post comments and suggestions and directly communicate with the government on various policies and schemes. The website is an extension of the MyGov portal launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on July 26, 2014.

Governments announce schemes but there is no participation of people in drafting these schemes. In a Democracy, the government is of the people, for the people and by the people. This portal will help us ensure that the public is as much a part of as the government is, Yogi said, adding that not only would the people get benefits of various schemes through the portal, the government would also get their inputs and suggestions to ensure that every section of the Society receives benefits.

Coal India Limited Chairman, Pramod Agrawal, met Chief Minister Hemant Soren at Secretariat here on Friday. In the course of the meeting, the CM told the CIL Chairman that Rs 56,000 crore is outstanding on the Government land given to Coal India Limited by the State Government for mining. The Chairman of Coal India Limited should take the initiative to make payment to the State Government at the earliest. The CM said that Coal India Limited should ensure to pay the royalty of coal to the state government on Ad Valorem basis.

The CM told Agrawal that the CCL should do extensive plantation work in the area where mining takes place. Deputy CM Tarkishore Prasad, who was on a two-day visit to the district, asked the officials concerned to intensify developmental works.

At a review meeting with theBhagalpur Smart City Limitedand district officials on Thursday evening, Prasad said, Our focus is on Atmanirbhar Bihar (self-sufficient Bihar) along with Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-sufficient India). Any laxity on the part of officials in executing developmental works will not be tolerated.

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has underlined the need to bring on the world map the natural beauty, tourism, historic and mythological importance of Chhattisgarh.

Taking part in the oath taking ceremony of the Chhattisgarh Tourism Board (CTB), Baghel said Lord Ram spent the maximum period of his 14 years in exile in the state.

Keeping this in view, the government has decided to beautify the Kaushalya temple at Chandrakhuri in Raipur district. The mythological Sheorinarayan is also being developed as a heritage site. Similarly, a 10 sq km area in Sirpur houses the ancient Buddha Vihar which includes Buddha age idols and ruins. This place was of international importance. The world also wants to understand the primitive tribes in the state, and so their places of habitation should be developed as a tourist spot.
