Efforts are on to make water available in the parched and rugged Bundelkhand region where the Uttar Pradesh government has set a target to set up 10,000 ponds under Khet Talab Yojana at an estimated cost of Rs 10,000 crore.

The State Government plans to build 10,000 farm ponds at a cost of Rs 100 crore in the 2021-22 financial year. Government agencies have already dug 4,400 farm ponds at a cost of Rs 49.56 crore so far as part of the Other Intervention component of its ‘Per Drop More Crop’ scheme. Most ponds have been constructed in Bundelkhand and Vindhya regions. Besides geo-tagging of these ponds, 50 per cent subsidy is given to the farmers through direct benefit transfer (DBT). Water saved in these ponds during the rainy season will be used for irrigation purposes and as drinking water for the cattle in the rest of the season.

According to an estimate, around 20 million cubic metre of drinking water will be available to the people of Mahoba. Aiming to realise Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s slogans such as ‘Per Drop, More Crop’ and ‘Water to Every Field, the BJP government in the state has been intensively working on these projects since taking over four years ago.

In order to improve the health and nutritional status of the State, the Department of Rural Development, Government of Jharkhand on Tuesday launched the JASHN Project, which stands for a Joint Action for Sustainable Health. Rural Development Secretary, Dr Manish Ranjan launched the project online.

The total public debt of Chhattisgarh has increased by 20.85 percent in 2019-20, from Rs 52,254.22 crores (2018-19) to Rs 63,164.72 crores (2019-20). The fiscal deficit was Rs 17,969.55 crores, which is 5.46 percent of GSDP and which exceeded the MTFP (Money Follows the Person Initiative) target of 2.99 percent of GSDP.

During 2018-19, the was within the FRMB (Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management) target of 3.07 percent of GSDP, said a Comptroller and Auditor General of India report tabled in the House on Friday by Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel. On the last day of the Monsoon

The report said the gross budget for 2019-20 was Rs 1,06,913.44 crores. Against it, the gross expenditure was Rs 92,261.34 crores. The tax revenue stood at Rs 42,323.69 crores and the states own revenue rose to Rs 22,117.85 crores against Rs 21,427.26 crore (2018-19). The state received Rs 13,611.24 crores Grants in aid from the Centre as compared to last fiscal.

The Capital Expenditure of the State Government was Rs 8,566,39 crores, Rs 337.06 crores less as compared to 2018-19. The Revenue Deficit of Rs 9,608.61 crores constitutes 2.92 percent of Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) during 2019-20.

In 2018-19, the state had achieved a revenue surplus of Rs 683.76 crores. The Public Debt increased by 20.85 percent in 2019-20. The state government has an off-budget liability of Rs 694.26 crores towards repayment of loans taken by various entities, in addition to its budgeted liabilities of Rs 78,712.46 crores. The report said the government had provided budgetary support and accepted liability (guarantee) for Rs 17,610.17 crores in 14 Public Sector Undertaking during the period for which their accounts are in arrear up to March 31, 2020. These PSUs have not finalized their accounts for the last 1-4 years in gross violation of the Companies Act.

With a view to discourage excise related crimes in the state, Madhya Pradesh Excise Act (Madhya Pradesh Excise Act (Amendment) Bill, 2021 has been approved to increase the fine and penalty imposed on various types of crimes in the Cabinet meeting held at Mantralaya today under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. In this, there is a provision for punishment mainly for offenses related to spurious liquor under Section 49 (A). If a person dies due to the consumption of spurious liquor, then a provision has been made for life imprisonment or death penalty and a minimum fine of Rs 20 lakh. This will increase the control of crimes.

The amendment bill provides for imprisonment of a minimum of two years and a maximum of eight years besides a fine of up to Rs two lakh for the first time and a minimum of 10 years and a maximum of 14 years imprisonment and minimum fine up to

Rs.10 lakh for the second time for physical damage caused by consumption of adulterated liquor unfit for human use.

Similarly, for the detection of adulterated liquor unfit for human consumption, there is provision for imprisonment for a minimum period of 6 months and maximum of 6 years and fine up to Rs. 5 lakh.

The city has witnessed nearly 300% increase in cyber crime cases compared to the previous year till July in the pandemic period.

Data shows that citizens have lost Rs three crore to cyber frauds till July this year. Of the total siphoned off online, around Rs 1.34 crore was frozen in bank accounts or returned to victims after cops took action.

Police have now launched a month-long awareness campaign Cyber Sanjivani to create awareness about such frauds.

Manipur stares at food shortage as ethnic violence affects farmingAgriculture has been affected in Manipur as many farmers are unable to tend to their fields due to the ongoing ethnic violence, and if the situation does not improve, food production in the northeastern state will be affected, a senior official said. While some farmers in the outlying areas of Imphal are tending to their fields despite fear of being shot at by militants from the nearby hills, many are abstaining from farming in the peak season for fear of their lives.

PM lauds efforts to boost petrochemicals sector in Assam & Northeast


Prime Minister Narendra Modi has lauded the first methanol consignment to Bangladesh from Assam Petrochemical Plant, an effort towards establishing Assam as a major exporter of petrochemicals.
In a big push towards establishing Assam as a major exporter of petrochemicals, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on July 1 flagged off the first methanol consignment to Bangladesh from Assam Petrochemicals Plant in Namrup. The Chief Minister also virtually laid the foundation for the development of Joypur Chariali and Namrup Sonari Tiniali roads to facilitate the movement of industrial outputs from Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizers Corporation Limited, Assam Petrochemicals Limited and Namrup Thermal Plant.
