Khajjiar to be aero sports hub: Himachal government

The is planning to promote Khajjiar area of Chamba district for aero Sports. Rakesh Pathania, Minister for Forests, Youth and Sports Affairs, said this while talking to The Tribune. He said Monal National Aero Fest was organized last week in Khajjiar to attract tourists to the region.

During the fest, people from nine states participating in parasailing, paragliding and motorized paragliding events. A project was being prepared for promoting Khajjiar in Chamba as a new destination for adventure sports like paragliding and sailing. It would be sent to the union ministry for sports and youth affairs for funding, Pathania said.

He further said that Chamba Chalo programme has also been launched to attract tourists to virgin locations of Chamba district.

Uttarakhand govt withdraws Char Dham Bill

Close on the heels of the central government withdrawing the contentious farm laws, theUttarakhandgovernment on Tuesday announced repealing of theChar DhamDevasthanam Board Act, which had brought over 50 temples, including Char Dham shrines of Gangotri, Yamunotri, Badrinath and Kedarnath, under the state’s control.

The act, which had led to constitution of a board, on the lines of Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, headed by an Ias officer, was strongly opposed by the priests of the Char Dham shrines as they claimed it was an effort to deprive them of their centuries-old rights of administering the temples.

The fears were compounded when earlier this month, before PM Modi’s visit to Kedarnath on November 5, protesting priests had stopped former CM Trivendra Singh Rawat, regarded as the architect of the act, to enter the

Kedarnath temple premises.

Torpa in Khunti has become the first block in Jharkhand to achieve 100 per cent Covid-19 vaccination coverage. This tribal-dominated block has achieved this feat despite resistance against vaccination from villagers during the initial phase of the immunisation campaign.

There are 116 houses here. About 319 people are eligible (over 18 years of age) to take the vaccine here. Every eligible person in the village has taken the first dose of the vaccine.

Govt, opposition lock horns as Bihar rated Indias poorest state

With theNITI Aayogplacing Bihar at the bottom compared to other states on the basis of 12 parameters in its national multi-dimensional POVERTY index (NMPI) report, the states opposition and the ruling parties are engaged in a war of words. RJD national president Lalu Prasad and CM Nitish Kumar have also crossed swords in their own ways.

The report, prepared on the basis of the National Family Health Survey (NFHS) with reference to 2015-16, has pointed to Bihars startling situation at the household level, even though its gross state domestic product (GSDP) has been in double figures. Bihar has been put in the club of the three poorest states Bihar, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh.
In fact, Bihar has figured poorly compared to Jharkhand and UP, as its 51.96% of people have been categorised as poor, another chunk of 51.88% deprived of Nutrition and 45.62% of Women as deprived of maternal health.

The 12 parameters on which the has rated states are nutrition, child and adolescent mortality, antenatal care, years of schooling of children, their school attendance, cooking fuel, sanitation, drinking water, electricity, housing, assets and bank accounts. Bihar has been rated as poor performing against seven of the 12 parameters and its best performing area is the provision of drinking water for people.

The other 10 other districts in the poorest category are Araria (64.65%), Madhepura (64.43%), East Champaran (64.13%), Supaul (64.10%), Jamui (64.01%), Sitamarhi (63.46%), Purnia (63.29%), Katihar (62.80%), Saharsa (61.48%) and Sheohar (60.30%).

In terms of inclusive development, Chhattisgarh has made it to the top five States of the country securing the fifth rank in a national survey. Andhra Pradesh has been ranked first.

In a ranking made on the basis of a survey conducted by a national magazine, Chhattisgarh is ahead of states like Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh.

In Swachh city, 100 public toilets to get solar panels

Indore Smart City Development Limited(ISCDL) will install solar power systems at 100 public and community toilets to reduce electricity consumption.

Solar power panels with a capacity of 2kilowatt each will be installed at public and community toilets. The

project will be taken up under ‘green energy’ initiative. It will also be listed by ISCDL to obtain ”, which can be sold in the international market and used to generate revenue.

There are around 300 public and community toilets in city and the monthly electricity bill at each toilets is around Rs100 to Rs200. IMC garbage transfer stations and public gardens, including the regional park, already have solar systems.

Gujarat second highest in lock-up deaths

Figures from the Union Home ministry on custodial violence shows a sorry state of Gujarat, which stood second in the entire country in terms of deaths in Police custody this year.

custody is next only to Maharashtra, which reported 26 such deaths till November 15 this year.

According to figures from the Union home ministry, the country reported 151 deaths in police custody and Gujarat accounted for nearly 14%.

Bihar. which reported 18 deaths in police custody, and Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh with 11 deaths each, are better off than Gujarat.

Crime in India in 2020, a report by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), also revealed that the number of custodial deaths in Gujarat was the highest in 2020. Fifteen persons, who were in police custody without remand, died in various districts of the state in 2020.

7.4 lakh stop availing benefits under food security scheme in Rajasthan

The state’s food and civil supplies department has identified 7.38 lakhNational Act(NFSA) beneficiaries who have not picked up wheat from fair price shops in the last seven to eight months. Out of these, the names of 2.89 lakh beneficiaries have already been deleted from theNFSAlist.

The department has launched an exercise to identify those beneficiaries

who are now financially Sound (or do not require benefits under the scheme anymore) and have stopped availing themselves of the benefits under the scheme.

There are around 4.44 crore NFSA beneficiaries in Rajasthan. The department has so far recovered Rs 72.69 crore from 59,260 defaulter government employees who had received benefits under NFSA. In all, 83,687 such employees have been identified in the state.

Tripura seeks funds for multimodal logistics hub on Gomati bank

TheTripuragovernment has initiated a proposal with the central government seeking funds to set up a multimodal hub on the bank of river Gomati in Udaipur in the southern part of the state to boost trade with Southeast Asia via Bangladesh, said special secretary (transport), Sandeep R Rathod, here on Tuesday.
A multimodal logistics hub is essentially a freight-handling facility to improve the countrys freight logistics sector by lowering overall freight costs and time.
