A whopping 15 lakh cases are pending in different of Odisha, an increase of 1.96 lakh cases since July last year.
The spiralling of backlog in cases has continued despite a marked rise in disposal rate (84.23%) after a quantum drop in disposal of cases to (18.68%) during the first wave of the pandemic. Between July 2019 and July 2020, there was a rise of 1.2 lakh cases.
The latest statistics available from the National Judicial Data Grid (NJDG) revealed that during last month (September) 31,785 cases were instituted while 26,774 cases were disposed of.
