Move to convert Gaya govt press into a museum

The more than 108-year-old government jail press, which once fulfilled the requirements of printing all documents, would be developed as a museum.

A proposal with this regard would be sent to the government. The British period press is spread in an area of around seven acres. There are several rare machines more than 150 years old with tag of manufacturing date and the country where it was made. The machines had been made inEnglandand Germany.

As per old records, the press was established in 1914 by the British government and the machines were shifted here from Dhaka in then undivided Bengal. Known asBihargovernment press and forms, it fulfilled the requirements of various types of forms used in all the government offices like Police, court, sales tax, revenue, Health, Education and others.
