Mizoram Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Minister Lalchamliana on Saturday said that the would soon sanction Rs 50 lakh as an aid for thousands of Myanmar refugees taking refuge in the state.
The government had earlier sanctioned and disbursed Rs 30 lakh for the same purpose which was distributed by deputy commissioners of Mizoram districts where refugees have been taking shelter.
In Myanmar border northeastern Champhai district, the Mizoram Synod gave Rs 8.11 lakh while through 8 pastorals while it disbursed Rs 5.2 lakh each through 2 pastorals in Hnahthial district and 2 pastorals in Lawngtlai district (both situated in southern part of the state respectively.
