Public Health and Engineering Department (PHED) ministerMahesh Joshihas demanded that the central government should give special status toRajasthanunder theJal Jeevan Missionscheme considering the unfavourable condition in the state.
The condition of ground water in Rajasthan can be analysed from the fact that only 38 blocks in the state are safe. While 219 blocks are in the category of over-exploited, 22 are in critical, 20 in semi-critical and 3 other blocks are in saline category. Rajasthan is actually the most suitable state for organizing such workshops on groundwater management
