The MVA government has issued an order raising the Local Area Development fund for MLAs and MLCs to Rs 4 crore.
The MLA LAD fund is meant to be used for development work in a legislators constituency. MLAs and MLCs do not receive any under these schemes. The government transfers it directly to the respective local authorities. The legislators can only recommend works in their constituencies based on a set of guidelines.
The hike became necessary due to the rise in cost of construction material and the need to maintain and repair existing structures, the government resolution says.
