After the state cabinet clearance, the general administration department on February 1 issued a GR stating that the song will become official from February 19, which was Shivaji Jayanti. It is for the first time since the establishment of Maharashtra in 1960 that the government has declared the official state song. The 1.41-minute song eulogizing Maharashtra has two stanzas of the poem written by Nagpur-based poet lateRaja Nilkanth Badhe. The music, referred as Maharasthra Geet, was composed byShrinivas Khaleand sung byShahir Sable.
