Maha sends DPRs of five dams to Goa for scrutiny

TheMaharashtra governmenthas prepared revised detailed project reports (DPR) for four Dams at Virdi and one in Ambadgao in Dodamarg taluka, and sent them to the Goa government for scrutiny. The dams will utilise water from tributaries flowing into Goa.

After the tribunal gave its final award pertaining to the allocation of water, Goa, Maharashtra and Karnataka each filed special leave petitions before The Supreme Court to enhance their .

As required, Karnataka accordingly prepared a revised DPR of its damming and diversion schemes, and obtained the necessary approval from the Central Water Commission.

As the proposed damming schemes of Maharashtra cover a command area of less than 2,000 hectares, it is not mandatory to take prior approval from the Central Water Commission.
