he Indian Council of Medical Research (Icmr) has nominated King George’s Medical University (KGMU) as an advanced centre for clinical trials in the central zone. The council has published the name of the 12 institutes of six zones across the country.
KGMU has been selected from the central zone which includes Uttar Pradesh, Bihar,Chhattisgarhand Madhya Pradesh.
The central research agency had sought applications from interested institutions to participate in the Indian clinical trial and Education Network (INTENT) programme. KGMUs application was selected after scrutiny and it was approved that the medical university will act as an advanced centre for clinical trials. ICMR is developing a centralised network in selected medical institutions and medical universities, which would run clinical trials of drugs, therapies and Vaccines. Besides, researchers will also be trained in these institutes.
