In a first, an industrial hygiene laboratory and demonstration centre has been set up by the for proper monitoring of the Health of workers employed in various factories dealing with chemical and hazardous processes.
The project began about seven years ago following the death of about five workers in the state due to silicosis and other industrial hazards. TheNational Human Rights Commission(NHRC) had then rapped the state government for failing to curb on-site work hazards.
