The Chhattisgarh government has stepped up the work of providing free-of-cost safe and adequate drinking water by providing individual household tap connections in rural areas under the Jal Jeevan Mission.
A total of 16,54,284 household tap connections have been provided so far, an official communiqu said on Monday.
Along with this, arrangement of pure drinking water has been ensured in 43,844 schools, 41,661 Anganwadis and 17,278 Gram Panchayat Bhawans and Community Sub-Health Centers through taps.
The Mission aims to provide 55 litres of water per person per day to every rural household through functional household tapconnections.
Under the Jal Jeevan Mission, a maximum number of 1,43,224 rural families have been provided with household tap water connections in Janjgir-Champa district.
