The Director Agriculture-notes-for-state-psc-exams”>Agriculture said that the framers of the State are showing interest in fruit production. In the year 2020-21, the cultivation of fruits was done in 100.27 thousand hectares. It produced 1203.64 thousand metric tonnes of fruit. The production was 12 tonnes per hectare, while the national productivity was 14.82 metric tonnes per hectare. Vegetable cultivation was done in 295.95 thousand hectare in this period, out of which 3603.41 thousand metric tonnes of vegetable were produced. Vegetable production was 12.17 tonnes per hectare. The National productivity is 18.4 MT per hectare. Jharkhand is also leading in floriculture. In Jharkhand, farmers produced 4.64 thousand metric tonnes of flowers by cultivating flowers in 0.99 thousand hectares. Flower production was 4.68 tonnes per hectare whereas the national productivity is 6.57 MT per hectare, she added.
The scheme is proposed for setting up of processing units to the farmers of the state at a maximum grant of 55 per cent of the project cost per unit. Also, the fruits and vegetables produced by the farmers are dried and preserved in the Preservation Unit. For this, 50 per cent subsidized amounts are also given to the farmers from the Government level. Farmers take advantage of this and increase their income.
