Hyderabad gets headstart in rollout of 5G

Hyderabad is among the 13 cities to witness5G(fifth generation) service rollout soon. Experts say telecom tower coverage and optic fiber connectivity may have made the city an ideal choice for the first phase launch. According to officials, telecom tower coverage in the city is one of the highest in the country, better than the national Average.

Telecom service providers will fiberise their BT stations installed on mobile towers with 7,93,551 units connected by optical fiber in India. Nearly, 86,000 towers, a vast majority of them in Hyderabad, in have already been fiberised. The national average for fiberised BTS is 34%. Only a few states, includingTamil Naduand Telangana, have more than 36% of such towers.
