Himachal Pradeshwants a higher share in the power projects that were commissioned 25 years ago and have completed their loan repayment. Chief ministerSukhvinder Singh Sukhurequested Union minister of power, new and R K Singh in Delhi on Wednesday evening to enhance this share from 12 to 15%.
About the states share in the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) projects, he said that theSupreme Courthas also given a verdict in favour of the state regarding the payment of arrears and its share, so the BBMB should be directed to now pay this Money. Sukhu pointed out that theShananproject had completed its lease period, so the State Government will take it over for further execution. He said the state had 12,000 megawatts of hydroelectricity potential to harness for economic Growth, revenue, jobs, and a better Quality Of Life. Regarding the scope for building solar-power projects, he said his government had relaxed the rules for Investment in this sector and empowered the deputy commissioners to accord permission.
