Himachal Pradesh: Hospitality industry of Dalhousie crying for help

Not only the Dalhousies tourism andhospitality industryis suffering due to coronavirus-induced restrictions including lockdown but in several cases, both the hotel owners and lessee are heading for a long drawn legal battle.

A hotel owner and former director ofHimachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporationinformed that as many as 9000 persons were, directly and indirectly, dependent on tourism who had either been laid off by the hotel or restaurant managements and were forced to do other menial jobs to meet both ends.

Almost 25% of the agreed lease amount was received made upfront to the hotel owners while the remaining 75% was paid by June. On an Average Rs 80000 to Rs 1.5 lakh is the lease amount of a room for the financial year.
