Health Dept comes up with plan to maintain buildings

The State Health Department has come up with a resolution for maintenance, monitoring, operation, management and repairing of various buildings across the State. The step will enable the department to ensure annual and periodical maintenance of buildings including medical colleges and hospitals, sadar hospitals, regional health centres, sub divisional centres, CHCs, PHCs and others.

According to the resolution the buildings have been divided in three categories A, B and C. The concerned Civil Surgeon will undertake maintenance and operation of buildings under him/her through or local arrangement. Even the colours of buildings of different categories have been decided.

The Civil Surgeon of a particular district has been entrusted will responsibility to ensure repair and maintenance of buildings belonging to all three categories in every five depending upon the status of such buildings with the funds provided by the department.

Also, the land under different health centres and establishment of each district will be registered in the district land assets register and will be updated every year. The concerned Civil Surgeon has been given responsibility for the same.

The department has also set up a maximum funds limit for various categories of buildings to be repaired/maintained annually and periodically (5 years).
