Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala on Friday directed the officers concerned to prepare a database of the unorganised labourers in the State so that they can be empowered by getting the benefits of various Government schemes.

Dushyant also issued directions regarding the registration of unorganised labourers by ensuring maximum publicity of the e-Shram portal prepared by the Central Government.

The Deputy Chief Minister, who also holds the charge of Labour and Employment Department, presided over the first meeting of ‘Haryana State Social Security Board’ at Haryana Niwas. The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Anoop Dhanak, chairman and MLA, Sugarfed, Ramkaran Kala along with various senior officers and Board members were present in the meeting.

Dushyant, who is also the chairman of ‘Haryana State Social Security Board’, said that e-Shram portal has been developed by the Union Ministry of Labour and Employment,

in which a national register of unorganized workers with Aadhaar number for the database will be created so that the benefits of social security schemes can be extended to them.

He informed that about 2.66 lakh unorganized labourers have been registered on the e-Shram portal in the State so far, while the remaining labourers will also be encouraged to get registered on this portal.

He said that in this portal, from farm labourers to street vendors, hawkers, workers working in mandi, MGNREGA workers, self-help group workers, Anganwadi workers, mid-day meal workers, Asha workers, rickshaw drivers etc will be included. The unorganized labourers working in these sectors will be encouraged to get themselves registered, he said.
