Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Monday announced to name the mini sports stadium built by Karnal Smart City Limited after The Flying Sikh -Milkha Singh.

Khattar also announced that a statue of Milkha Singh would be installed at the gate of the sports ground. The playground is constructed in about four acres at Gappu Wala Bagh site in ward 16 in Karnal.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister also announced plans to build a community centre and library on the first floor on about two and a half acres of land adjoining it and said that a yoga shed would be built at one corner of the sports ground, in which yoga classes would be held.

Apart from this, an astroturf field for hockey would be built at a cost of about Rs.8 crore, Khattar said.

On this occasion the Chief Minister inaugurated four projects, including mini sports stadium, beautification of Atal Park, strengthening of various roads and construction work on footpaths, constructed at a cost of about Rs 8.22 crore in Karnal.
