Haryana Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister JP Dalal said that a target has been set to transform one lakh acres of barren land of farmers into cultivable land during this year.

Dalal was presiding over a meeting with senior officers of Agriculture-notes-for-state-psc-exams”>Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department here.

He said the Government will assist the farmers to identify the barren land for which the action plan is being prepared.

While directing the officers of the Department, the Agriculture Minister said that Moong seeds should be made available at the earliest to the farmers at the block and village level in the state, especially to the farmers of south Haryana, so that they can plough their crops in time.

He said good quality seeds of Millet, Moong and Urad should be made available at low prices to the farmers, for which a long term plan should be prepared in collaboration with Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar.

It was informed in the meeting that in the crushing season 2020-21, 429.17 lakh quintals of sugarcane was crushed while 371.86 lakh quintals of sugarcane was crushed in the crushing season 2019-20. Similarly, 41.97 lakh quintals of sugar was produced in crushing season 2020-21 while 37.41 lakh quintals of sugar was produced in crushing season 2019-20.
