Governor Ramesh Bais has given his nod to two important Bills passed by the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly. The Governor has given his assent to the ‘Jharkhand Contingency Fund (Amendment) Bill, 2022’ passed by the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly on Friday. Through this Bill, the amount of withdrawal from the State’s contingency fund has now been increased from Rs 500 crore to Rs 1200 crore.
Bais has also given his assent to the ‘Jharkhand State Agricultural Produce and Marketing Bill, 2022′ and has sent various suggestions in this regard to the State Government. He has said that in the Light of this Bill, a comprehensive discussion with all the stakeholders should be ensured during the formation of the rules. While fixing the rate of market fee, the fee should be fixed keeping in mind the farmers of rural and scheduled tribal communities of the state. Along with this, special attention should be given to the interests of farmers belonging to small and weaker sections and the stakeholders should be included as special invitees in the Agricultural Marketing Council constituted at the state level.
Notably, several trade bodies and members of the business Fraternity in the State had met the Governor on the Agriculture-notes-for-state-psc-exams”>Agriculture Bill and had requested his intervention on the same. Minister, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Cooperative Department, Badal and Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Cooperative Secretary Abbu Baqr Siddiqui had met the Governor recently at Raj Bhawan and informed the Governor about the work being done by the department. On the occasion, the provisions contained in the Jharkhand State Agricultural Produce and Livestock Marketing (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, 2022 were highlighted by the Minister and Departmental Secretary. The Governor had said that such bills should be made which are in the public interest and do not put additional financial burden on the people.
