TheGujaratgovernment claimed on Sunday that Gujarat leads the country in marine fish production with an Average of 8.50 lakh metric tonnes of fish production annually over the past four years.
A number of programmes will be organized on July 10 and 11 in Veraval,Porbandar, Jafrabad, Mangrol and Okha to mark the event, an official statement said.
According to the data made available by the government, Gujarat leads India in marine fish production and ranks fifth in the country in total fish production. The average fish production in Gujarat has been about 8.5 lakh tonnes per year in the last 4 years, the statement added.
Presently, the exports of fish from the country is 13,69,264 metric tonnes and Gujarats share in the total fish quantity exports is 16.9%, i.e. 2,32,619 metric tonnes.
The annual income of a family engaged in fishing activities was Rs 6.56 lakh in 2018, Rs 6.80 lakh in 2019, Rs 7.39 lakh in 2020, Rs 8.51 lakh in 2021, and Rs 10.89 lakh in 2022.
