Gujarat bags first rank in e-procurement through women entrepreneurs

The Department for Promotion of and Internal Trade (DPIIT) released the ranking of all the states of the country in various categories for the implementation of the GeM portal. According to rankings released, Gujarat has bagged the first position in the category of Procurement Through Women Entrepreneurs.

The Kreta-Vikreta Gaurav Samman Samaroh 2023 was organized by the Government e-Market Place of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India on June 26 at New Delhi to award the top performers of GeM India. Gujarat bagged one award in Platinum Category and 3 Awards each in the Gold and Silver Category at the event.

Awards were given to the top three states in the respective categories among all the states and union territories of India. The award ceremony was attended by representatives of the top-performing states. Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of Textiles, Commerce & Industry, and Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, Government of India and Anupriya Patel, Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, Government of India, were the Chief Guests at the event.

Gujarat was ranked second in the Highest Total Order Value Category worth Rs 7,963.8 crores, and the Highest Service Procurement Category worth Rs 2,151.3 crores, as well as the Highest Procurement through MSE vendors with Rs 3,195.4 crores.

The state stood third in the category of the total number of orders with 2,99,718 orders, procurement through Start-Ups worth Rs 218 crores, and best engagement with 9,553 vendors (highest number of transacting buyers).
