Govt urged to list biodiversity heritage sites in Telangana

The was on Tuesday urged to list potential Biodiversity heritage sites if it wanted its biodiversity strategy to succeed.

Addressing a workshop organised by theTelangana State Biodiversity Board(TSBB),J Austin Mohan, secretary ofNational Biodiversity Authority, asked the state to create a mechanism to demarcate environmentally sensitive areas as they prepare the State Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (SBSAP).

The event was organised in a bid to ensure that various aspects of Biodiversity conservation were considered in Telanganas SBSAP. As of date, only nine states have their own SBSAP in the country.
